[G] [E] Okay, [G] so this is the second lick in this three lick series, Gary Moore, blues, fast licks.
And it's very similar to the first one.
Starts out a little different.
It's a little different kind of a slant on it.
[C] But, and it's in the C minor [E] box [Ab] [E]
[Bb] there.
[Dm] [Am] A little bit of stuff up here in that little [E] extension box.
[Eb]
[Am] Okay, so we start up [Em] here on the E string.
And he does that two string bend.
[A]
[N] [Em] Okay, so he likes to do that.
A bunch of guys like doing that.
Neil Schoen does that a lot.
And Doug Aldrich seems to like that too.
Just gives you that real sense of urgency.
You know, you can go once.
[Ab]
[E] [A] Sounds great.
G G.
[N]
Sort of gives it that sort of siren kind of urgent sound.
Okay, so that's how [G] the lick starts.
[A] [Ebm] And
[E] then we [N] come down here.
[Ab] [Cm]
[C] [Ab]
Okay, so that's how that lick basically starts.
That's [B] how the fast stuff starts.
That's probably what you want [E] to practice.
[F] [Cm] Okay,
[C] because that's key.
That's probably the most important part to get the lick going.
[Cm]
[C]
[E] Again, there's hardly any picking.
[B] It's just I pick [C] the first two.
And the last two.
Okay.
Yeah, that's what to practice [E] right there.
And just start off [Cm] slow.
[Ab] Okay, and just get it up as fast as you can.
Okay, so from there, [Cm]
[G] [Ab]
[Eb] [Gm] [G]
it's [E] kind of just you feel your way through that.
You know.
[C] [Cm]
[Bb] [G]
[Eb] [G]
[E] Sort of almost do what you want in that second hit.
[Cm] [Gm]
[Fm] [G]
You know.
So you're just kind of bouncing around that [E] pentatonic shape.
But the most [N] important thing is how it starts.
[Cm]
[Bb] And you can use [E] that starting pattern.
[Cm]
[Ab] You know, just [Em] throw that in your playing anywhere [Bb] just to get.
[Cm]
You
[F] [C]
[E]
[Cm]
[F] know.
That's a great way to start a fast [E] lick.
Okay, a little different than the first lick we went over.
Excuse me.
[Cm] But it's really effective and gives you that real kind of sparkly sound that
guys like Gary Moore are known for.
[E] Okay.
[C] Yeah, [G] I got something out of this.
[N] I think it should help you.
These speed licks, you just, you really need to practice a lot.
And keeping also in mind that everybody who plays guitar is going to,
you know, have their own speed limit that they probably won't be able to get past.
So the thing is not to get, you know,
overly concerned about not being able to play as fast as that other guy.
But just, you know, go as fast as you can go.
But at the same time still pushing yourself to try and get quicker and more accurate.
And, yeah, just basically accepting where you're at but always pushing ahead.
Right?
Okay, yeah.
So I hope you got something out of it.
