[F] [N] Hello out there in YouTube land.
Welcome again to my channel.
We're here at Rick Diesel Studios, and I'm attempting to do another classic
It's all about the classics here on this channel
We're gonna do footsteps in the dark by Diocese Brothers.
I've seen a couple of other renditions
On YouTube all them pretty good
I'm gonna try to get as close to the record as possible because I hear something a little different each time
Hear these other covers and again by no means I'm saying anything negative against all the covers
But I'm just a stickler when it comes to trying to mirror the artists as far as doing a cover
Especially on this particular song cuz Ernie Isley is a genius
He hasn't gotten his due as a guitar player and the things that [D#] he does with his playing
Whether [N] it's chords or of course the lead stuff is just unbelievable
You know, but uh, he never getting his due
Here's another little interesting tidbit about Ernie Isley all of the songs that they've done back in the day
He played drums on it as well.
So he was a heck of a drummer
Underrated musician overall, you know, he should be up there with Hendrix, but that's another story and actually
Hendrix taught Ernie Isley.
That's another little tidbit information or should I say little fun fact
So so let's get started and after I play it, I'll give you the breakdown of what I'm doing.
So [G] here we go
[Bm]
[F#] [D]
[G] [F#]
[D] [F#]
[D]
[G] [F#] [D]
[F#]
[Bm]
[E] [F#m] [D]
[F#m] [F#]
[D] [F#]
[C]
[A] [F#m]
[B] [F#m] [C]
[A]
[F#m]
[Bm] [D]
[D] [F#] [D]
[F#]
[D] [F#]
[D]
[Bm] [F#] [Bm]
[F#m]
[D] I don't know
Okay [F#]
at
[A#] this point I'm gonna [F] stop and this is why I'm a little different from most people to do tutorials
I'm not gonna have you sit through the whole six minutes of me playing cuz at this point is [N] not necessary cuz
Everything up until that point we've already covered anything after that point
It's going to be
Repetition we've already done it.
So again cut to the chase.
Here are the chords
some of these chords, I really don't know the name of them because
The way that they compose their stuff
These are not diminishing weird chords.
That's kind of hard to pick up at times and unfortunately since
No one has released sheet music for the Isley Brothers music
Which they should so you kind of left on your own to kind of figure it out
But I've been kind of listening to study and Ernie from since I was a little guy
So I know he's a lot of kind [Bm] of this, you know
[F#] He's [D#] in a lot of his son.
[D] So the first chord is kind of like I would say it's a
F actually E11
[D] You know just finger across [A#] the seventh fret it starts on [Gm] the a string and just run it across as a bar
[Cm] Use that pinky which is kind of a [Bm] signature for him
and then that little [E] run
[E]
[D] [Bm] [F#]
[E] [Bm] then the chord is
which is a
Is that B?
Yeah
Bm7
[A#] and then you slide it down it looks like initially I want to say a
C [C#] sharp
It's C sharp minor
But the thing is take that pinky [C#] up and just leave [A#] these two fingers across there.
That's that second chord.
[C#m] This sounds weird
You know, that's what he does and then [A#] the changes [A#m] C major [C] 7
[A#] A [A] major F [A#]
sharp [F#m] minor 7
[A#] Then B minor [Bm] 7
That's [B] that B sharp
It's B.
[Bm] So that's [A#m] it.
That's the whole song.
So again, [D#] it's the verse is
B minor 7
[C#m]
[A#m] [C#] Get that finger there
At that note that [A#m] note added makes it [G] kind of sound weird again
[G#m] the IG brothers
I've written a lot of great compositions and some of the chords are just kind of hard to pick up [F#] because they're not like traditional stuff
It's like something else is kind of going on.
There's an extra added note or a note taken out.
So it's that note
[C#m] It falls on are we really [F#] sure?
So [A#] that's basically that whole song in a nutshell
So [F] I hope that you've learned something from this lesson and [G] keep coming back because I'm going to keep adding more classics
Songs that [B] most people on YouTube are not covering so these songs need to be represented too
So I'm trying my best to do that You know
I'm gonna try to pay homage [A#m] to these great artists and these great compositions of the 70s to 60s the 80s 50s
You know, so I'm kind of gonna be all over the place as far as
Decades except for the new stuff.
I'm gonna leave that for the other guys.
So until next time
