When I posted that Fly Me to the Moon video on Twitter, [A] gosh, [D] I never thought it'd give
[Gb] me the opportunity [E] to become a one-hit wonder.
Like I don't have a music career and my music career is already over.
I'm gonna be in a job interview one of these days and he's just gonna be like, yeah, yeah,
yeah, yeah, yeah, all that's cool, but yo, yo, let me hear that Fly Me to the Moon though.
That joint was hot.
Anyway, I should introduce myself because most of y'all are probably new.
My name is David Sacawbway from the band Going Spaceward.
I would introduce you to the rest of the members of Going Spaceward, but it's just me.
I'm very lonely.
You know, I came up with the name Going Spaceward when I was in high school and I'm 22 now.
I just went viral off of a song in which I sing about space.
So I feel like everyone thinks I'm just the space guy now.
Is that my online identity?
Is that who I am?
Some of y'all might be wondering where the full version of Fly Me to the Moon is.
It's coming, eventually, on this date.
Hopefully by the time I edit and post this video, there's a date that I can actually
say with confidence that it'll be out.
But yeah, I'm grateful for the support and all that stuff.
I do a lot of things musically.
Sometimes I rap.
Sometimes I play rock music.
Sometimes I play bluesy stuff.
Sometimes I
I literally don't know what I'm doing anymore.
But yeah, I'm working on my second EP.
If you'd like to check out my first EP, I'll put a link in the description.
Anyway, a lot of y'all have been asking me how to play Fly Me to the Moon.
Like, Going Spaceward Fly Me to the Moon tutorial is a search term on YouTube, which is weird.
I don't know why.
It's just Fly Me to the Moon.
I didn't do anything special to these chords.
But since y'all keep asking, I'll try to explain.
Okay, so, number one, no I don't have tabs.
But if you want them, you can probably find them.
It's Fly Me to the Moon.
It's one of the most popular songs in the world.
Number two, this isn't gonna be the most beginner-friendly song in the world, so if you're kinda [C] confused,
don't be too distraught.
Number three, I can't really show you exactly the way I played it in the video, cause like,
say for example when I would go to play a C chord, like if I knew the next chord was
gonna be a C, I just kinda decided in the moment how I wanted to play that C chord.
Like maybe I did this open C chord, or this, or maybe I played a C major 7.
Or I played a C major 7 up here.
Or I can play this C9 chord.
It's jazz, you do whatever feels right.
Anyway, the first chord, A minor 7.
Next chord, D minor [Dm] 7.
[A] Then G, or [G] G7 if you feel like it.
[C] Then C.
[F] Then F.
Or you can play this F major 7.
Or this F major 7.
The [Eb] next chord is B minor 7 flat [B] 5, or B half diminished 7.
It's a kinda jazzy chord that you might not have heard before.
You can also play it up here.
I like to use my thumb a [Bb] lot.
[B] And then [E] E7.
Or you can do this.
Or this.
And then [C] A minor 7 again.
[Ab] Now those last three chords form what's called a minor 2-5-1.
It's a sort of cadence that shows up a lot in a lot of [B] songs.
[Am]
For example,
[Gm] These are a few [Gb] of my favorite [Em] things.
[F] Or yesterday, [E]
[A] all my troubles [Dm] seemed so [D] far away.
[Ab] So yeah, that's a good one to have in your utility belt [B] Batman.
Next chord is D minor [Dm] 7 again.
[G] Then G.
[C] Then C.
I like to do a C over E at this part.
It's a C major chord with an [Em] E in the bass.
Then [A] A7.
It's not [E] really necessary to do this, but I like to put a [Dbm] C sharp diminished 7 in there
as a passing chord.
And [Dm] then D minor 7.
[G] Then G7.
[Gb] Then [G] C.
I think in the [Ab] video I do that [C] C9 chord there.
[G]
[E] And then E7.
[A]
So let's run through that.
1, 2, 3, 4.
[Dm] [C]
[G] [Bb] [B]
[C] [F] [C] [B]
[Bb] [E]
[A] [Bb]
[A] [Bb]
[C] [Bb] [A] [Eb]
[Dm] [Bb] [G]
[Bb] [B] [E]
So there you go.
Go forth, be jazzy, fly yourself to the moon.
[Gb] me the opportunity [E] to become a one-hit wonder.
Like I don't have a music career and my music career is already over.
