[Bm] This is the guitar lesson for the King Elvis Presley's Jailhouse Rock from Guitar Made
Easy dot com.
For this one guys, I hate to [Ab] break it to you, but you've got to tune your guitar a half
step down, at least [B] to play along with the original recording.
[Gb] So let's begin.
The song is very simple.
[Bb] There's basically two parts to this [Ab] song.
You have the very easy power chord part, [Eb] which all I'm doing is I'm on the, [G] what is this,
the sixth and the eighth fret, and I just slide up to the [B] seventh and ninth.
So I go, [D] [Eb]
I actually don't slide, I pluck it [D] twice.
So I go pluck once on the sixth and eighth, and then I move it to an [G] E chord, which is
on the seventh and ninth, an E power [Ebm] chord.
Do that four times.
[Ebm] [D] [Eb]
[Eb]
Doesn't get much easier than that, does it?
[Abm] The next part of the song goes like this.
[G] [Bb]
[Fm] [Bb]
It's just the 12 bar blues.
[Abm] This is actually the 12 bar blues in the key of E, [Eb] so it's your standard.
[Bb]
[Ab] [Eb] This picking part is a little bit more complicated.
How it starts off is on the fifth fret with the E string, and we just go down, up, [Ab] down,
up, down, up, down, up.
So I have my pinky on the fifth fret on the E string, and I go down, up, and then ring
finger on the fourth fret on the [C] A string, pointer finger on [Eb] the second fret on the D
string, and then we take our [D] ring finger and we [Fm] go, on the downstroke, we put it on the
fourth fret on the D string, and then [Eb] we take it off.
[Ab] So it should sound [Eb] like
[Eb] And this part is [G] very heavily palm muted, so make sure to keep your palm [Ab] on the strings.
[F] The next part is down here.
It's going to go open on the E string, ring finger [A] on the [Eb] fourth fret E string, [Gb] [Bb] and then
pointer finger on the second fret on the A string, and then [C] ring finger [Bb]
on the fourth
[B] fret on the A string on [Bb] the downstroke, and then on the upstroke, take [Eb] it off.
[Bb] [Eb] [Bb]
And now remember that picking pattern and fingering pattern we just used a [Ab] second ago,
[Db] starting on the fifth fret on the E string?
We're going to slide that same shape and everything up to the seventh fret and do the same thing again.
So [Fm] [Ab] do that once, [G] then back to the fifth fret, [Eb] then we [F] finish on the open E.
[Bb] [B] [C] Once again,
that whole thing [G] very slowly, it should sound like this.
[Eb] [Eb]
[F] [Bb]
[Fm] [Eb]
[Bb] [Eb] Back into [B] the verse of the song.
[Eb] [Ab] Now for the guitar solo, it's very simple.
All it is is up here around the twelfth fret, and it first goes off like this.
You make an [Bb] E triad, which is you bar the [D] twelfth fret with your pointer finger on the
E string and the B string, take your middle finger and put that on the thirteenth fret
on the G string, and you [Eb] go.
So once again,
[N] the next lick is a unison bend.
Your pointer finger stays on the twelfth fret, and your [Eb] ring finger bends up a full step.
On an [Ab] acoustic guitar, it's a little bit more complicated.
It's a lot easier on an electric guitar.
But you bend this [F] up a full step right [B] there.
It goes.
Hear that?
[Eb] So, pointer finger on the twelfth fret B string, [Ab] ring finger on the fourteenth fret G string.
You bend [B] your ring finger up [F] to the sixteenth fret [Bb] while you keep [B] your pointer finger on
that twelfth fret.
So you strum both strings at the [Ebm] same time, and you bend it up like that and you go.
[B] And then you go to [Bb] a B power chord on the seventh and ninth fret.
[Bm] Then slide that down to the fifth and [Ab] seventh.
Do it again.
Then you make [Eb] an E major shape and you go.
[N] So what I did there was I took my pinky and I put that onto the G string.
I go, right now it's off, and I'm focusing on strumming just the D [Eb] and the G string.
Hear that right there?
Then I take my pinky and I put [Abm] it on the [G] G string [Eb] at the second fret.
[Eb]
[G] Okay, so all together it sounds like this.
[Eb]
[Bb]
[Ab] [Bb]
After the guitar solo you [E] go back into the verse [Ab] again and the song actually finishes on.
[Gm] [Bb]

[F] The next part is down here.
It's going to go open on the E string, ring finger [A] on the [Eb] fourth fret E string, [Gb] [Bb] and then
pointer finger on the second fret on the A string, and then [C] ring finger [Bb]

You bend [B] your ring finger up [F] to the sixteenth fret [Bb] while you keep [B] your pointer finger on
