[Eb] [F] [Eb] Dwight [N] Yoakam is one of country music's biggest legend and his new CD, Secondhand Heart, is
country to the core.
Please welcome one of my favorites, Dwight Yoakam.
I am so excited that you're here.
When I [E] met you backstage, I told Whoopi, I said, I have to leave now before I have a dork moment.
[N] But this new album's getting critical acclaim, critical acclaim.
It sounds a lot like your earlier stuff, like from 29 years ago.
I think there's an immediacy to it.
It's like that.
You know, it's, yeah, and there's a bit of kind of reckless abandon to it, you know,
kind of youthfulness maybe that way.
It was fun.
Was it intentional or just organic?
It was just, yeah, it was organic because it was just, we didn't conceive, kind of preconceive anything.
We just let the songs kind of dictate.
There were a couple of things that I wrote in the studio when I started to record something
else, I decided I'd write something else.
I mean, I'm literally in the room with the guys on the other side of the glass and I
said, wait a minute, I had an idea.
And I said, play and watch.
I'd sing something to them and we just, I wrote it while I was kind of in the moment. That's awesome.
Yeah, it was fun.
Currently on a nationwide tour to support the album.
And like, how does touring compare now to when you first started?
You know, it's a little easier.
It's a lot easier in the sense that I'm more aware of what I don't want to do.
Yeah, we know what you mean.
Don't even bring that up.
No, I'm not staying there either.
Well, here we go.
We're here to perform the title track off his new album, Second Hand Heart.
Sorry, I'm nervous.
[Db] Give it up to the fabulous White Yoka, man.
