Chords for DAEAAE Guitar Tuning - The Correct Tuning Used In Goo Goo Doll's "Name"

_ _ _ I'm back!
Justin from Guitar Made Easy.com [D] and I've had a couple people ask me, I did
the cover for Goo Goo Dolls Name and I also did the guitar lesson [G] and a lot of people
have been telling me they've been breaking their strings trying to tune to _ that crazy
Goo Goo Dolls Name tuning so I'm just going to go over that really quick today, it should
be a really quick lesson.
So I got my guitar tuner here and what I'm going to do is tune
my guitar, right now I'm in standard E, just the standard tuning, I'm going to tune it
to D, _ _ D, A, [B] E, A, A, E.
So this bottom, the E string is going to be tuned down to D, the
A is going to stay the same, the D is going to be tuned up to E, _ _ this one is going to
be tuned to A, _ the B is going to be tuned to A, so the A and the G and the B are both
going to be A and E stays the same.
So I'm going to do it really quick here, so I got
my guitar tuner, first I'm going to drop that E down to a D.
[D#] So, _ _ nice little trick is you
can kind of match that with this guy right here to get close. _
[D] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ Alright, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
close enough,
I'll go back and check it at the end because my strings will move a little bit because
I'm tuning the other [Bm] strings at the same [A] time.
So the next string is A, _ _ this guy is pretty
good right now, I'm going to make it go flat a little bit, loosen it up, _ [D] perfect.
Next
one is the D string, that's going to be tuned up to E, okay, so I'm going to tighten _ _ _ _
_ [D#m] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[F#m] it. _ _ _ _ _ _
_ [F#] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
[E] _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ And remember to tighten that one slow because this string isn't made to have this much tension
on it. _ _
Alright, so [A] now I'm at E, so, [G] _ _ okay, and then I've got these two that have to go
to A, I've got G, so that's going to be [B] tuned up to A, _ and this guy, the B is going to be
tuned down to A, so let's start with that B, let's tune that down [F#] to A, _ _
_ [F#m] _ _ _ cool, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ [G] and this
G is going to be tuned up to A.
_ [G#] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [F#] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ Nice and slow, it's almost there.
_ _ _ [A] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ Perfect. _ _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _
[F#m] _ _ [A] _ _ [D] _ _ _ _
_ _ _ So that's it right there, so we've got D, A, E, A, A, E.
A lot of tabs online say it's a totally different
tuning, _ this is the one that's correct, so you heard it, I played it, it sounded basically
spot on, or at least I think so, so, anyways, try it out, [E] and remember on those strings
that you tune up, you want to go really slow, and if your strings are old, they might break, _
so just make sure to have some strings, some new ones standing by.
