Start Jamming...
Everybody norm over here, and I've [D] got to my buddies Johnny and [G] Brad from the Google [D] dolls
How are you all right and over the years?
We've done done a lot of stuff together
Which is [G] great, and now they're looking for J 50s J 45s and
[D] [G] Epiphone Texans and stuff like that [Am] and
What are you guys doing right now?
You got a [D] new record?
Yeah, we're actually we're [G] working
We're mixing a live album right now and [Gb] writing for the [Ab] next next album that should be out in the fall of
2017 and it's playing shows here and there this year.
We're supposed to take off, but we never take off
So it's kind of like you know so you're [D] constantly working.
Oh you got to
As a [G] musician if they're hiring [B] you better.
I'm gonna be
You got the [Cm] money.
Yeah, I'll be there
Obviously yeah, [G] I'll see you there.
It's [Bb] a quite a concept that I feel musicians [G] getting paid.
Yeah
[Em] Beautiful thing you know so in the lab you just had a record [D] recently to [G] the head with an album
And we put an EP out and toured for two years on that which is great.
There's [E] really a lot of fun
[D] Yeah, [Am] no now you just [C] start over again
And only [G] as good as your last record right?
We're [Em] really excited about the whole project that you guys [G] got going with the internet with the [C] all-new car network website
[G]
I'm looking forward to getting my own little clip.
We hope that you I would love to
Wish you guys
Well, you got a bunch of heavy hitters in there, so it's gonna be [Em] also to you guys.
It's gonna be awesome
[G] So we're just checking out this [D] beautiful
Okay, [G] so can you tell us about this?
Yeah?
This is a 64 J [Em] 50 now
The [Ab] one of the kind of cool [Eb] things about this and this is a stunningly clean [G] one yeah
Up until about early 65 [A] they were wide at the nut and even all [Ab] the way down once you get into like 67 68
[F] They get real narrow here, and then [C] they start getting wide right.
[D] This is a real desirable really [E] comfortable feeling
Yeah, it does feel [Em] great, and you know it's an amazing condition, and it sounds good.
Yeah, this was
The first one that we [Bb] heard when we came in today, and it was just [Em] yeah
and this [F] is a
[C] Epiphone Texan [G] and this was the Epiphone answer Gibson [N] made in the 60s to the
To the regular Gibson models there is a difference
This [E] is a slightly longer [Fm] scale length [N] than that so it's very slight
Headstock is a little bit different
They have like the flared inlays on these a lot of the British bands were playing these guitars
They say it was over to England a lot.
You know during
British invasion type thing so this is sort of the [Bbm] equivalent body is pretty much the same body and everything [G] just a few [E] little
Differences, but the still like this
Yeah, [Gb] and it's interesting that's the tonal difference between this and yeah, I mean, but that's [G] you know well.
This is beautiful
[C] [G] That's why people collect guitars.
Yes.
It's like painting with one brush right can't exactly do every tune with the [A] same
Guitar or [Ab] well this guitar to me when I listen to this this [F] has more attitude than this
But this has more of a [C] classically beautiful
[Em]
They love these guitars with the adjustable bridges [G] yes now
You know some of the [Gm] bluegrass purists they like the [Bm] fixed bridge
Yeah, but these record these [Cm] guitars record really well, [D] and they have their own [Bb] kind of sparkle to them
Yeah, that really and is that because because the adjustable bridge is made of a different material
Yeah, it's a different material
And there's you know these bolts in there and stuff with some of the people you know back in the day kind of frowned on
But [Ab] actually you can adjust the action yeah, and it produces a different sound [Bb] so
It's just really
You know each one of them says something [G] different right and as you know you've been a victim.
I [Gm] mean a customer
so
[F] You know we
[G] You know each one of them makes you pick it up and play it a little bit
Yeah, yeah, it makes you write a different tune or something really does
I really truly believe that there's never been a guitar that I've bought and
Not [Am] written a song of it because it's like every [G] instrument every guitar [C] has a song in it
Yeah, you know and it's and it's beautiful [G] sometimes
I have to let them go like I'll just sell them off at the end
Because [Em] they get into my life and then and [G] they and I create something [E] with them, and then I'm like okay
It's time to let go of you, and then I [Db] come in and I try to find some [G] new stuff
Something fresh you know [Em] there's there's definitely this this guitar though.
I think it's got three [G] or four good songs in it
There you [D] go
[A]
They all [Bm] pay for themselves
[Em]
Yeah, yeah, yeah, these [D] are both great.
Yeah, I think we're liking this one the [Am] best this this
Yeah, [E] but this has got such great attitude to it like it's really it's a lot
[C] It's it feels a lot snotty or the close that [Ab] scale length.
It's just got a little bit different things.
Yeah, you know it's
apples and oranges and they both taste good they
[G] Really [C] you know it's weird that what was [D] what was freaking me out was like when [G] you're playing both of these together
How much they complement each?
Yeah? Yeah
[D]
[G]
Beautiful together you know and you know
You got your attitude here, and you got you and you have this fullness and beauty [D] to it
You know and I remember you know we had done some [Eb] trading before we had some [F] guitars of yours
And a [G] lot of you had different tunings.
I did yeah cars and all [A] that kind of stuff
Yeah, [Am] so certain ones kind of lend themselves
[Am] Yeah, some of that high [E]-strung kind of Nashville [G] tuning for certain things and [Em] just you know [G] you play around with them [C] Fitness
[D] Everything along [C] and each and [G] each project that we work on it's like it truly is getting inspiration from a new instrument or
Finding that one instrument that well we [Em] need this gap filled and being able to come into a place like this
[C] Where you like you can [Em] listen to 20 a 45s and I mean [D] yes
There is [E] literally there are literally 20 of these here [Em] today, which is well.
I am not your unique
Well, that's what we try to do because we get [E] groups like you guys when you come in [N] if we had one or two you
Might go well.
That's a really cool guitar, but when you get to play 20.
Oh, you know you know
Yeah, which is which is the greatest part about being here?
Someone interesting hanging around.
Oh, yeah, [G] well
Chris Isaac is coming
[Am] Great player and goes [G] great great guy great singer
[D] [E]
Good but you know it's always a [A] pleasure having you guys
Again, I wish you luck on the new record
You know you won't need it because [C] you guys always do good
It's about the two it's but it's all about the two you are correct sir.
[D] You know just gotta try to keep them [G] coming
All right, I'm gonna go buy a guitar
[C]
All right boys, thanks again
