[D] Alright guys, who wants to be just like Yngwie Malmsteen?
Well, I can't really help you there, [Ab] but if you want to buy a guitar that's almost just
like the one he has, you can get a fake Chinese copy of his signature Stratocaster for only
$145.
Now I've checked out some of these fake knockoff guitars before and honestly, with this one
compared to the fake Les Pauls and even the fake Fender Stratocaster that I have sitting
back here on the wall, with this one I'm not quite as concerned about this actually being
passed off as a genuine article than I am with those other ones.
The reason being there are a lot of slight inaccuracies on this guitar when you compare
it to the real thing.
The other thing is that when someone's going to be buying a guitar that is potentially
a very expensive signature guitar, I mean it's a more narrow market I guess than just
a regular Stratocaster or a regular Les Paul.
So I think when someone's going to be buying one of these, they're really going to be paying
attention to the small details.
And you can find a lot of the little details that don't quite work out on this guitar,
like the nut here.
It's supposed to be brass, this one's just a white plastic.
Also the truss rod adjustment here, this is totally wrong for this guitar.
There's one too many string trees on it also.
Now if you look down here on the pickups, they've got this weird Maserati brand of pickup.
I'm not really sure why they did that.
I think maybe they associate Maseratis with Yngwie Malmsteen, although honestly I [Eb] don't
think he's ever owned a Maserati, but he has owned Ferraris and Lamborghinis, so maybe
they just got confused in the type of Italian car that he drives.
But needless to say, the pickups, if you look at them closely, are completely wrong.
Now that's not to say that this is a badly made guitar, and for the price, I'm kind of blown away.
The scalloping on the neck is actually done pretty well.
It's not quite as deep as the scalloping that you'd find on a genuine Yngwie Malmsteen Strat,
but it's still very well done, it's very consistent, and it's totally playable.
Like those other fake replica guitars that are coming out of China these days, this has
all of the right labeling on it.
It's a Fender [Bb] Stratocaster, it says it's made in the USA, it has a real Fender serial number
on the back, it's got the Fender neck plate back here.
But don't let that fool you, none of this stuff is licensed, it's not authorized, and
if you sell one of these, you could potentially get in trouble for selling a counterfeit product.
Okay, so we've talked about it, but let's go ahead and plug it in and listen to how it sounds.

[D] Alright, so that is the fake Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster, direct from China.
Like I said, for $145, it's pretty amazing that they can produce a guitar like this.
Of course, the big crime here is that I don't think Yngwie is getting paid for having his
name on the headstock of this guitar.
But what do you guys think?
Would you guys play something like this, or maybe hang it on your wall as a decoration
if you're a fan of Yngwie?
Or do you think these fakes have absolutely no place among guitar players?
As always, I would love to hear what you think in the comments section below.
Alright guys, that's it for today.
As always, let me know what you would like to see next.
