Can't help myself, can't help myself.
I almost can't when I'm playing that song,
because it is quite a strict little guitar riff,
and I sometimes look down and go,
gee, I'm actually not in the right key,
because I'm having so much fun doing it.
But it's that sort of funky guitar thing
that happens all the way through it,
which is not typical of Icehouse
to have that funky thing going on, I suppose,
but it's a great song to play.
For me, it's a hard song to play,
because I'm doing too much jumping around
and having too much of a good time
to actually play it strictly,
and I think if I played it in the studio,
you'd just have to sit down and concentrate on it.
Part's not hard.
To execute it exactly each time
is probably the tricky bit.
Can't help myself again.
80s pick.
Love it.
That's just great.
That's such a strangely funky song to play.
I think we give it a little bit more swing
than it's got on the recording.
Whenever we get to Can't Help Myself,
I kind of remember its history,
because it was very difficult for me
to write those first songs,
but it seemed I was kind of getting better at it
as I went along,
and so that's where Can't Help Myself arrived.
So I never play that song without actually remembering
that whole process.
The thing that's good about that with this band
is when you start playing that song,
just with that feel,
I think people know straight away
that it's that song.
I get a buzz off that type of thing
as soon as you go into that.
And I actually wait for it.
I actually wait for them,
and then they go, you know,
that part of it's a buzz.
Can't Help Myself's another one I'm pretty busy in,
because I've got to do all the
d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d
for that whole song,
and it took me a little while to kind of get in,
get in the groove of just playing that
for the whole duration of the song.
