Look up child, world is gone
Hey Pearl, for people I still want to collaborate with, Mike Patton would be one and Bill Withers
would be another one.
[Ab]
Windows are open child
Dee Dee, I don't really go now.
[Ebm] I mean I'm never in a particular place so I can't really go to one.
Wherever I am is where I write.
If it's on the road, if it's at [Ab] home, it's more about where the song comes to me than
[Db] I'm coming to it.
I'm a
[Eb] fixer
Yeah, Joe, I've looked at you too.
I used to look at it a little bit more than I do now but yeah, it's one of those things
that if I'm just sitting at home [Ab] and I'm just sort of wondering about what I'm doing, it
makes me inspired and happy to know that people are connected to the music I make.
So sometimes, yeah.
Rocky road and there's still a way
No Lag, how are you?
I do write about things that happen to me in real life, yes.
It's not 100% always exactly what [B] happens to me.
It's like sometimes sort of a combination of what happens [Ab] to me and what might happen
to somebody else in the past that I knew or whatever it is but yeah, definitely there's
real life stuff that [Db] happens to me.
Moon is [Ab] hanging low
Well, Mark, I took two guitar lessons in my life.
Basically, what happened was it was me paying this dude [Db] when I was living in South Carolina.
[Ab] He did show me some really cool stuff but he also just sat there like almost the whole
lesson like doing Hendrix licks and showing off and like kind of I was paying him to practice.
It was more like that than he was teaching [Db] me.
[G] So I [Bb] think I would say learn from your friends as [Ab] much as you can.
If you want to take lessons, you're a dedicated student.
That would probably be cool. I wasn't.
So it was best for me to just learn from my friends and people that I knew like who were
sitting around like it took me a lot longer to learn like certain chord things and I still
don't really know much about [Eb] music theory or anything like that but I would say learn
from your friends but if you have a good teacher, stick on that.
[Ab] Oh, this miles ahead
Torn us apart
I'm not listening to that much like crazy wild [Eb] music right now.
I'm listening to more [Ab] just like stuff from the 70s and whatnot.
Like I've been listening a lot to this big Al Anderson record.
I've been killing that.
I've been listening to Al Green's Bell record a lot and I also been listening to this compilation
that was put out by Arthur Russell.
It's a really beautiful compilation and as you can tell my iTunes, I don't get past the
A's but I hope to maybe maybe there's more surprises down the list a little bit.
I'll keep you informed.
