[Bb]
[N] This is the guitar lesson for ACDC's It's a Long Way to the Top if you want to rock
and roll, yeah.
From Guitar Made Easy dot com.
That was just me doing a little bit of my Bon Scott.
I may go in and out of Bon Scott from time to time.
And if you guys are some of the ones leaving comments down below about, hey bro I can't
see your hands, it's too dark in there, get some more lights in your studio bro.
I made a tab so you guys can follow along.
I listen to the song, tabbed it out by ear.
Join my Patreon team if you want that tab and plenty of others.
And let's begin.
So the song starts off like this.
We want to make sure our guitar is in [E] standard E tuning.
[A]
[G] [E] Okay so standard E tuning.
Play along with the [B] original recording.
We want to take our capo and put it on the first fret like so.
And we are ready to begin.
[Bb] The song starts off like this.
[E]
Now that riff is played throughout [B] the entire song.
And how you play it is you first want to down strum the A string through the B string [Ab] open.
Then we're going to take our pointer finger and we're going to hammer on on the second
fret on the D, [Bb] the G, and the B string which is going to give us an A.
[Eb] So you have this so far.
[Bb]
Right there.
Then we're going to up strum that A chord starting with the B string all the way down
to the A.
So far we have this.
[N] Next we're going to mute the A string and down pluck it twice.
We really don't want any tone behind it.
We're not fretting any frets with our fingers.
We're just kind of muffling the strings so it gives us that picking sound.
Just like that.
So two of those.
Then we're going to strum through that [Bb] A chord and [Db] then one more mute on that [Gb] A string.
All together very slowly [Bb] it sounds like this.
[E] Good job!
You got the most important part of this song down.
Good for you.
Let's keep moving.
Angus [C] comes in in the intro while that part is being played and he plays this.
He does a hammer [Cm] on on the second fret on the D [F] string.
Plays the G [Ab] string open and then the A string [F] open.
Lets it ring.
How that sounds at a regular speed is.
And when that's played over [Bb] the.
It sounds awesome.
[Db] So that's basically the intro of the verse and it's used throughout all the bagpipe parts
of the song.
[Bb] The main riff.
Now where it changes a little bit is where he says getting robbed!
Getting stoned!
You hear a little.
How I play [F] that is I'm going to [D] hammer on into the same A.
This is basically the [Bb] same part as.
[Gb] Instead of making just an A this time it's going to be an A but we're going to take our
pinky and we're going to bar the fifth fret on the [Bb] B and the E string.
So that's kind of like our new A.
And we're going to do the same thing just replace that
A chord with this new variation of A.
So it goes.
And I'm not [E] really up strumming throughout the entire [Bbm] chord.
Not really doing that.
I'm just kind of hitting those top two strings.
[Gb] Now we go into the chorus.
The chorus is the easiest part of the song.
All it is is an [Bb] A chord.
[Ab] Then G.
[Bb] Then we do a D with our [Eb] thumb on the second fret E string.
Back to [Bb] an A.
It's a long way to the [Eb] top if you want to [Bb] rock and roll.
Yeah!
[N] Super easy right?
Now at the end of the chorus it changes up a little bit.
[Bb] You'll hear A and then a down up [Eb] on D.
Then we go right back into the chorus.
[Ab] [Eb] D with an F sharp bass.
Like we talked about.
And then [Bb] A.
[N] Now the last part I'm going to show you is going to be the outro of the song.
Which is very similar to the verse and the intro.
However there's a little bit of a change.
What it is [Bb] instead of is this.
So it's only going to be a power chord this time.
Not an actual full chord.
So I'm not really worried about this second fret of the B string.
I'm only playing the A, the D, and the G string.
Open, hammer on, upstroke, then down, down, down.
And then open, hammer on, upstroke, two downs.
So [N] over and over and over again.
Until the song slowly fades away.
Now all the lead parts I put in the tab.
I really don't want to turn this into a 30 minute lesson.
But I tabbed out the lead parts in the middle and everything like that for you.
One part I will show you when the bagpipes come in.
What you can do is if you have a piper in the room.
If you have a piper in the room it's great.
If you don't have a piper it's kind of difficult to get the same feeling out of this song.
The very first riff that Angus plays in that solo [Bb] is this.
And then the [Eb] piper plays this part.
And [Bb] then piper [Fm]
plays this part.
[Bb] [F] Piper plays this part.
Then the next solo goes [Gm] like.
[F] [A] And there's a couple more after that.
Those are the tabs so definitely check [N] those out guys.
