[Bm] Katy Perry [E] is a name that you know [C] well and you love.
She's your party best friend
[D] in your head anyway.
We fell [F#] in love with her when she kissed a girl and countless cupcake bras,
rainbow wigs, and number one hits [Bm] later.
Katy is the first female artist to have five number one singles off the same album.
An accomplishment that has only been preceded by the king of pop.
But Katy has another [E] trick up her sleeve.
Songwriting.
[Bm] You asked for it and your [Am] wish is our [F#] command.
Here are nine songs you didn't know were written [E] by Katy Perry.
[A]
[E]
[A] [Bm] Number one, Kelly Clarkson's [G] 2009 hit,
I Do Not Hook Up, [D] was indeed co-written by Katy Perry.
[A] Katy had actually intended to [Em] sing the song herself,
but [G]
upon her departure from Def Jam,
she gave the [Em] song to Kelly.
The song was included on Kelly's All I Ever Wanted album and was [C] certified gold in both Canada
[D] and Australia.
Aside from I Do [Em] Not Hook Up, [B] Katy had a hand in writing yet [Em] another one of Kelly's songs [Am] called [Bm] Long Shot.
[F]
[C]
[Dm]
[Bm] The song was originally recorded for one of Katy's earlier albums, but was left unused due to the album's cancellation.
Whoever was the person that said that one person's trash is another person's treasure was absolutely right.
[E] Coming in at number three, [Bm] the pop diva [C] has also written for [E] Selena Gomez.
[B]
[F#] I
[C#]
[G] Katy gave Selena rock God after Selena
[Bm] [Em] persistently worked to be able to call the [A] track her own.
I actually had to fight for that song.
I wanted it so bad.
It was so, it's kind of funky and I think I used her style and we kind of mixed it up with
producers that I worked with with my style.
So we made it a little bit more techno.
And [Em] to make the situation even cooler [Bm] for Selena,
[C] Katy [Bm] also did some background [D] vocals for the track.
When asked how the [C] two got in touch with one [Bm] another,
[Em] Selena revealed they have the same [B] music agent and [Bm] Selena would often attend [D] many of Katy's shows.
[A] Selena admitted that she was a little nervous to ask Katy about collaborating professionally,
but after asking through the proper [D] channels, Katy was thrilled.
[Bm] Number four is [Em] yet another Selena track that Katy [D] put her paws on.
[A] [Bm]
[D]
That's more like it off of Selena's When the Sun Goes Down album was also written [G] by Katy.
It's a very girl empowering song.
Basically saying that I don't need a guy.
I don't need to have
to cater to a guy.
I don't need him to, you know, tell me what to do.
It's a really fun song.
It was co-written by Katy Perry.
So I feel like she's a very girl
empowered woman.
So it's nice to have one of these songs that I [F] feel like girls are gonna want to say,
okay, you can [E] pamper me now.
KP later did her own cover of [Bm] the song that had more [Em] of a rock-pop [A] edge than Selena's beat-heavy rendition.
[F#m]
[G] [D] But [C] my question is, is it even called a cover when you're singing a version of your [Bm] own song?
Food for thought people.
[Em] Number five is a track for [Bm] which Katy teamed up with yet another [D] pop diva by the name of Britney Spears.
It's [Bm] Britney, bitch.
[C] Katy co-wrote Britney's track Passenger after Brit called it quits [D] with her ex-fiance Jason [E]
Trowick.
[B]
[C#m] [G#m]
[E]
[Em] Britney told MTV with a laugh that it was [Bm] quote-unquote very [D]
therapeutic.
I got over it [G] really fast.
When speaking [Em] on the collab Britney said this.
[F] But I'm a huge fan of hers.
I think she's an amazing vocalist and she has a [G#] beautiful voice.
And I love the song and [E] the moment I heard the song I [A#] was like, this is really beautiful.
So I was really proud [D] that I was able to do it.
Coming in at number six, [Bm] Ashley Tisdale is another lucky [Em] recipient of a Katy [G] creation.
[D] [Em] Love is a [Am] Train [Bm] was originally featured on the [D] Matrix's debut album with Katy on lead [G] vocals.
[D]

[A]
[F]
[G] [A]
[Em] Although the song wasn't a huge [Bm] commercial hit, the album still [D] landed a spot on the Billboard 200.
Katy and Jessie [Bm] later worked together again on Jessie's Girl Next Door track, which [G] featured some of Katy's vocals.
Now before [Em] we get to our last Katy Coyne song,
you may not have known that Katy [F] had a little something to do with one of Miley's earlier tracks.

[Bm] Breakout was released to Radio Disney as part of Miley's second album and was originally recorded by Katy as a demo for her debut
album One of the Boys.
But the song was later passed on to Miley after Katy didn't include it on her album.
So the point is even though Katy didn't write the song, [Em] she still had [E] something to do with it.
[C] And last but probably the most [D] recognizable is [B] Black Widow by Iggy [Em] Azalea featuring Rita [G#m] Ora.
[B] [C#]
[D#m] [Bm] The dominatrix-esque hit was co-written by Lady Boss Katy Perry.
The track was originally intended to be included on Katy's Prism album,
