Hi, this is TJ with Piano Clubhouse.
Today I'm going to show you Jesus is Real by John P.
Keat.
It's in the key of E flat.
E flat [Bb] has
[Eb] three accidentals.
E [Bb] flat, A flat, [Eb] and B flat are your other two accidentals, [Dm] and of course D [Ab] and D.
[Bb] [N]
Okay.
Let's get started with the [C] introduction.
[Gb]
[F] So [C] the run there is C, [Bb] B flat, and then flip [Gb] three notes here.
G [F] flat, F, [Eb] [F] E flat,
[Bb] F.
Okay.
[C] [Gb]
[F] [Bbm]
[B] Then the chords, left hand stays on F, [Gm] right hand is going to this E flat major seventh.
[Eb] E flat, G, B flat is your E flat major [Gm] chord.
Going this D, which is the seventh note of the scale, makes it an E flat major seventh.
Left hand is on [Eb] F.
What you can do is just play the lower F first.
[G] Then next, the only thing that's going to move is this B flat.
It's going to shift up to B.
When you do that, let's jump up an octave to this higher F.
Okay, so it's
[C] [Bb] [Gb] [F]
[Eb] [G]
Then next, right hand is going to
these middle two fingers.
Matter of fact, all three of these fingers.
[B] This chord right here, I'm sorry, let me back up, is an E flat
[G]
augmented seventh.
[B] To augment a chord, just kind of [Eb] some quick theory, this is your E flat major, E flat, G, B flat.
To augment a chord, you take the fifth note of the [D] scale and raise [Em] it a half step.
So in this [B] instance,
E flat, G, and B is your augmented
[G] E flat augmented chord.
And we're going to throw this seventh note.
So E flat augmented seventh.
Okay, so we started [Eb] out with the
E [Gm] flat major seventh.
We [G]
augmented it by raising that B flat.
The last chord is [Ab] going to be
A flat major.
E flat, A flat, C, E flat.
Left hand is now on a B [Eb] flat.
And then Jesus is
real.
And then we end back up on E flat in the left hand, E flat major in the right hand.
[Db] And I kind of
flip that G flat to G to kind of give it that country [Eb] twang.
Okay, one more time [C] slowly.
[Bb] [Ebm] [F]
E flat major [Eb] seventh.
Augmented.
[Ab]
[Eb] Right there.
[G] Then walk up.
[Ab]
[A] [Eb] [N]
I had some chords, some fancy chords to kind of get you on the walk up, but we'll keep it real simple.
I think it actually sounds best this way.
Just octaves [G] on [Ab] G's.
A [A] flat, A natural.
[Eb] Then when you get to this B flat, that's when you get this E flat augmented, E flat,
I'm sorry, suspended chord.
E flat, [Bb] A flat, [B] B flat.
Another real quick theory tip.
[Em] To make a suspended [Eb] chord,
you take your E flat, you start with your E flat major triad.
To suspend it,
you take that third note and [Abm] raise it to the fourth.
[Eb] So this is now a [Abm] E [Eb] flat
suspended chord.
The first, [B] lower the scale, [Bb] the fourth and the fifth.
Okay?
The song starts, Jesus is real.
Okay,
so let's take it through the top slowly all the way to this point and then we'll move on to the verse.
So,
[C] [Bb]
[Gb] [Gm] [Eb]
[Bbm] [A] I keep wanting to hit that minor seventh.
[C] Sorry.
[Ebm] [F] [Eb]
[Ab] [Eb]
[G]
[Ab] [A] [Eb]
[Gm] I'll be going to the [N] song.
Okay?
So let's start with the left hand.
[Eb] Jesus is E [G] flat, G, [C] C.
[Eb]
Okay, so the first three notes, E flat, [G] G, [C] C.
Then we'll [N] go down to F, the second note of the scale, and just [F] walk up.
F, [Fm] G, A flat.
[A]
Half step to A, [Bb] B flat.
Hit B flat twice [Eb] and then [Bb] land on E flat.
Okay?
Again,
[Eb]
Jesus is [G] real, [C] G, C.
Walk down [F] to F, [Gm] [Ab] then [A] walk up.
[Bb]
