Hi guys [Ab] I'm going to show you how I play Michelle by The Beatles.
[G] This isn't a
stress this is [Gb] just the way I play it it's probably not the right [E] way but I
think that this is a fairly easy way to play what looks like a complex song but
it's actually not that hard.
First thing you'll need to just put a capo on the
third fret and you want to learn that nice little intro bit which [Fm]
[Ab] [D] [D]
[C] [Fm] is
essentially just going from [C] a D minor to an A7.
You're going to start up [Fm] here
I'm just going to use the top three strings [G] so come up to the fifth fret put your
first finger there second finger onto the second string of the sixth fret and
the fourth finger onto the seventh fret on the third string.
Now those [Ab] notes are
going to be kept okay you'll move your fingers around a bit but those two notes
are going to [G] stay there.
Basically all [Fm] it is is on the third string you're
starting up here on the seventh fret you're going to get going from the seventh
[E] to the sixth [Gm] to the [E] fifth to the fourth [Dbm] down to the third [C] that's all it is.
So
it's [Fm] pluck, strum the [G] two, [Em] pluck, [Ab] strum those two, [Eb] [Ab] strum those two, [G] pluck, strum those two, [Db] pluck,
[G] strum those two.
So that's the first [Abm] part of it you just have to move your fingers
a little bit around so [G] you can get down that third string.
[Fm]
[Ab] [D] [Db]
Then just [G] while
you're down here on the third fret bar straight across the top three, [Bbm] strum the
whole three, [G]
[Ab] sorry, then just play the second string on the sixth fret [C] and play
an A7.
I play an [G] A7 bar chord because I'm right up this part of the fretboard
anyway but if you'd [C] rather go down there to that A7 you can.
Or you could play A7 up there on the fifth fret.
Or rather switch to the capo.
So [Fm] once again, [Ab]
so I find it easier to keep my first finger
[G] there on the first string for the [Fm] first two parts of that.
[Ab] Then I just switch
around to what is an ordinary sort of a D shape.
[Eb] My third finger comes down there
down [C] to the first string and my [E] second finger is going to be the one running the
rest of the [Eb] way down the third string.
[D] [G]
[C]
Okay so that's the intro.
Verse starts [F]
down here on a D.
The chords you're going to need are D, [D] [Bbm]
G [Gm] minor, [Eb] C.
[D]
What are these?
[G] Some sort of D [E] diminished
something or other.
I [Eb] haven't bothered [Fm] looking up what the chords called but
it's [Ab] basically just a first fret [G] on the first string [B] and first fret on [C] the third
string.
[Ab]
Alright someone will put the exact chord down [D] in the comments.
[F]
[Bbm] [Eb] How would [G] that go together?
[C] Well A minor.
[F] D, [Bbm] G minor, C.
[D] That funny D diminished whatever it is.
[C] I just go straight to an A after that one.
I'm [G] pretty sure there is another chord in there.
I think it [D] might be [C] one of these.
[C] I never bother with it.
[D] [C] I don't find it too hard.
I'm [D] quite happy just to go [C] there.
[D] Back to the [C] A.
[D] [Ab] If you want [G] to run up that A [Ab] string from the
first to the second [F] to the fourth before the next verse that sounds [G] nice if you'd
like [F] to do that.
[Bbm] [Eb] [Gm]
[G] [C]
[F] [Bbm] [Eb]
[D] [C]
[C] Right.
[D] Now you need the love you I love you I love you D minor.
[Fm]
I love you I love you I love [G] you.
[Ab] F7.
Like an F but again just not playing the fourth string.
Well not fretting the fourth string on the third anyway just barring straight across the first fret.
That's all I want to [Db] say.
To a B flat.
[C] Down to your A7.
Till I find a way.
Back to your D minor.
So just once again.
[Fm] D minor D minor D minor.
[Ab] F7.
[Db] B flat.
[C] A7.
[Fm] D minor.
And then back up into your little intro riff again.
I will say the only words I know that you [C]
understand.
And [Ab] believe it or not that's the whole song.
The rest of it [D] you can do.
[F] D D [Bbm] G minor [Eb] C
[D] D whatever A [G] D something [C]
A.
[D] [F] Me and [Bbm] Cheryl are up in the [Eb] C D [C] something [D]
A D something A.
I really should have looked up what that chord was [G] shouldn't I?
Oh well too bad.
It's started now.
But um.
[Ab] Ah.
Okay is the outro anything you need to know?
[Fm] I will say [C] the only words [G] I know that you.
[Bbm]
Instead [D] of going back here [G] for the.
Play the note up there I play it down here.
On the first [C] string because I'm coming back to that A7.
[F] My Michelle.
[G] But yeah you don't really need to know anything.
It's the [F] same chords.
[Bbm] [Eb]
[D] [C]
[C] [Fm] Yeah so.
[F]
[D] [F] [C]
My [F] Michelle.
[Ab] Yeah Michelle.
So there.
It's not as hard as [D] it looks right?
It's just that running down that third string.
Looks tricky but it's not.
