Covering New York Fashion Week, it's amazing some of the characters you come across.
For example, backstage at the Tommy Hilfiger show, I ran into Billy Gibbons,
lead singer of the legendary American Southern [F] rock band ZZ Top.
[B] And Billy is almost as famous for his beard as he is for his music.
In fact, Gillette once offered him a million dollars to shave it off,
but he apparently said I'd be too ugly without it.
Although he doesn't go to many fashion shows, he does have his own fashion story to tell.
And he told me the intriguing tale of how he came to lose his Texas Stetson.
How are you?
I'm really, really well, but I love your fabulous punches.
I'm loving it.
[Bm] Where's it from?
It's actually from the family.
Oh, it's an actual real [Eb] tribal one?
It's from the [B] family, he tried.
And [N] it's braided cloth. Right.
Where were you all at?
We were playing in [Bm] Vienna.
Yeah.
We had a three-week break, and it was [B] not quite long enough to return to the States.
[Gb] [B] And the Warner Brothers representative [Ab] was a young lady whose best friend was the Austrian consul to Cameroon.
They had a field trip planned, and they invited me to come along.
Well, I was wearing a ten-gallon cowboy hat, and the chief, he walked by the minister of finance, minister of arts,
he came straight up to [B] me and [Ab]
they gave me the elbow, they said,
that's the chief, give him a hand.
I said, no, wait a minute.
I said, [E] chief, I'm from Texas.
[Ab] We do a little horse trading over these matters.
And they went, you [B] can't say that to the chief.
And he went, oh, one minute.
So [E] a couple of his asides went scurrying about, and they came back with [N] this, and we made it.
You made an exchange.
How fabulous.
Do you like it?
I do.
I noticed it from the back, and I thought, who is [Ab] that man?
And someone said, ZZ Todd, flying [B] up.
Because I [Ab] always remember the videos.
[Bm] That's the way.
Now, [N] what tribe was it, did you say? The Bamaleke.
Bamaleke.
That's B-A [E]-M-E-L-I-K-E.
I'll check [B] it on Google.
Would you mind doing one of those for our [N] video?
You got it.
