I accepted your 10 random words last week to write a song with.
They were
roller skates, 121 North, Bearcats, Jill, Oil, Ephesians, Jayton, the name Jayton,
sarsaparilla, flamboyant, and the fourth of July.
[D] And I [C#] actually didn't use roller
skates.
[D] Sorry.
But the song turned out pretty good so I'll share with you guys
now.
It goes like this.
Jayton had a job for 50 cents an hour at the filling
station by the water tower just [A] checking oil and pumping [G] gas.
The kind of kid most
folks just [D] look past.
Jill was the local preacher's kid gone wild.
Had a flamboyant
daddy never loved his own [A] child.
Quoting Ephesians with an angry [G] shout.
Saying all
the reasons she would never [D] turn out.
[G] She was drunk one night [D] on the fourth of
July.
[A] Popped [Bm] in a pasture with an older guy.
[G] He just [D] laughed when she said no.
[G] And he tore [G] her Sunday dress.
She was wandering [D] alone on 121 [A] North when the
lights [G] came over the [Bm] hill.
[G] That was the moment [D] when Jayton met Jill.
She said hey do you need a ride home?
She said go away leave me alone.
[A] He saw the bruise and the frightened [G] tears.
Said there ain't no way in hell I'm [D] leaving you out here.
It was raining a little and fixing the storm.
And his
bearcat jacket looked dry and [A] warm.
So she let him wrap it around her and she climbed [G] inside.
Saying okay I guess next for [D] a ride.
[G] And all night down here [D] they waited out the storm.
[A] Sipping sarsaparilla [Bm] right up till.
[G] By the time he dropped [D] her off safe at home [Em] neither one felt [G] so alone.
Two lost [D] souls found a [A] connection that's blessing [Bm] both of them still.
[G] That moment [G] when Jayton [D] met Jill.
[G] [D] [A] [Bm]
[G] [D] [Em] [G]
What Jayton ever told [D] her about that night [A] is how he taken his [B] dad's old 45.
[G] He'd been driving round [D] town thinking how no [E] one would care if [Dm] he ended it [G] all.
He couldn't see [D] past his own pain till [A] he saw a [D] pretty girl [Bm] walking in the rain
[A] Thank [G] God he made it over that hill
That was [D] the moment when Jaden met Jill
[G] [A] [D]
