YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME for the UKULELE - UKULELE LESSON / TUTORIAL by "UKULELE MIKE" chords
Start Jamming...
[G] [F#m]
[A] Hi, [C#] ukulele Mike here.
Oh my gosh is this ever a fun song to play on the uke you got a friend in me from
Toy Story by Randy Newman I do this with my kids at school
And they request it over and over and over again and in fact the chord progression goes over and over [C] and over again
It's kind of a cyclical progression
Let me take you through the intro and the chords a couple of chords you might not know of course you all know a C chord
You have a C7 chord
We have a neighborhood dog here that loves this song too.
We have [F] an F chord
[E] [D#m] F diminished 7th these diminished 7ths are so cool
There's only three of them [F] one two and [G] three when you get to the fourth fret
It's the same as the first so [C] this and this are the same.
It's a different inversion of it
Those are diminished sevenths.
They're [G#m] great little chords you find it a lot of the old-timey swing [G] songs and whatnot of the 30s and 40s
Okay, then we have of course a G7 chord
We have [E] an E7 chord and [Am] we have an A minor
Okay, now [G#] let me show you something you [C] take a B flat chord
[Gm]
Like so now.
This is a movable chord so if I move it [B] up it becomes B
Move it up once [C] more it becomes C
[B] Move it back down.
It's B or C flat and
[A#] B flat
now in the [N] intro
This little figure [C] [B]
happens [A#] twice so it goes like here's the [C] intro
[F] [C] [G]
[B] [C]
[B] [A#] [C] You've [B] got a friend in [C] me
[D#m] You've got a [C] friend in me
[F] when the road [E] looks
Rough [Am] ahead [F] and you're miles [C] and miles from your nice warm bed
[F]
Just [G] remember what your old [Am] pal said
[G] You've got a friend in [C#] me.
Yeah, [G] you've got a friend [C] in me
[F] [C] [G]
You've got a friend in me
[C#] You've got a friend [C] in me
[F] You've [C] got troubles
Then I [Am] got him too
[C] There isn't anything [E] I wouldn't [Am] do for [F] you
Stick [E] together.
We can see [Am] it through [F#] cuz you've got a [G] friend in me
[A] Yeah, [F#] you've got a friend [C] in me
And [B] as the years go [C] by a [D#m] friendship will [C] never die
[F] You're gonna see [E] it's our [Am] destiny
[B] You've got a friend in me
[C#] Yeah, [F#] you've got [G] a friend [C] in me
C6 happy [F#m] strumming
[F#m] [A]
