[N] [F]
That's only a taste of the absolutely beautiful music composed and performed by contemporary artist Jani who joins us today
I mean really [E] nice to meet you
[G#] You know it's funny as you were playing.
I was thinking [D#] no we don't need to talk you say you can communicate
[D] Without talking with music huh [G] correct use of music [F] if you use [F#] melody rhythm [E] and sound [F#] you can definitely
[D#] Get emotions across it would [C#m] be very interesting
I think [E] for every parent to [F#] hear your [G] influences [F] the musical influences
You've [C] had [F#] what a broad range was that in [A#] Greece you were exposed [G#] to all this music absolutely by who?
Mom and [F] dad was very much into classical music, and [D#] then we listened to the radio
We heard [E] like Northern Africa it Italian music French music also rock and roll was [G] seeping through
Were you [Gm] one of those kids that could sit play here [D#] something sit down and play it yes?
You were [D] so you're up.
You're a protege.
I mean you [Fm] grew up with it [Gm] was this [A#] God's gift to you meant to be I?
[G]
I
[C#] See I don't even remember I [F#] have something that's called perfect pitch which means I can recognize any note or chord when I [F] hear it instantly
[F#] So and I don't remember how [D#] I acquired that I just remember I always had [D] it so really interesting [F#] that you picked University of Minnesota
[F] When you came here at age 18 [A#] why it was one of the best schools in the country [G] for psychology [F#] at the time and that's what?
You wanted huh?
Yeah?
Why did you not think [A#] you would make it as [Gm] a as an artist [F#] I never thought of music
[D#] [A] It to to as a profession
We were [F] taught that we should learn music because it's great [E] for a human being to become better
[G#] And further ourselves, but we were also told [D#] that we shouldn't use it as a profession to make money
So [Gm] when did that start when did [A] you when did you realize that's not necessarily true?
I think it was about 21 [G] years old or so 22
I realized that [F#] in life we have a choice
And if we don't do life the way we want to we won't be doing [G] that how does your psychology help you music?
It helped me [F] grow as a human being and [D#] that in effect
[F] Translates into the music [A#] music the music that [Gm] I do is a direct reflection of my personality in the way
I feel about life [C#] so anything that [E] affects me affects [G] the creation reflections of passion has sold
It's almost platinum right pretty close 45 weeks number one on the billboard charts, but it's billboard charts
They call it new [D] age you don't like that
[F] Is it just that that's the [A] category it fits into it's a box
Is it any artist doesn't want to be in a box so I'm no exception before you play
[A#] I've got to tell you I mean I'm looking over there Linda's with [F] you Linda Evans the love [F#] of your life
[E]
Is [D] is what keeps [E] you two good [G] together that you take center stage separately do [F] you know I mean today's [C#] your day
Yes, is that important [C] Linda's not here.
She's here, but she's not in here, but she's here in spirit
But is that important to take center stage separately [D] so that you do what you do best Linda does what she does best [G#] sometimes?
It may be
[F]
The right thing to do sometimes [A#] we sometimes we're on together [F#] sometimes separate.
It's what makes you two [E] so good together
[F] All right a lot of [D#m] different things, but I think
[D#] [F#] The [Fm] relationship it's exactly the way I felt of [E] it.
There's
Unconditionality to it, [F#] and it's very mature
We are both allowed [F] to be the way we [D] are and I think it's the healthiest way to be [A#] it
We know it [A] is but not many people [C] can accomplish that will you [D#] play for us?
I'll sit [D] back while I sit back and just listen [F#] absolutely okay

[F#] Your music is very [E] moving music isn't it?
I heard many things in [D#] that.
Tonight, you [F#] play at the Opera House with [E] 10 pieces [F] behind you.
Do they ever get in the [B] way?
Not at all.
[F] They're just incredible musicians.
Well, I [Gm] know, but I'm thinking this sounds so beautiful by itself,
and here you have now this more mega sound.
See, we do [A] everything.
We do everything.
There's pieces that I just play on the piano by myself,
pieces that I play with a string quartet only.
There's pieces to where they're extremely [G] majestic.
We sound almost like a symphony orchestra.
Isn't that great?
So it's like the dynamic range is as much as I can get.
So if at 8 [F#m] o'clock tonight, you're not at the Opera House,
your ears [F#] have missed a treat, and maybe your soul, too,
because I know what you do is very uplifting and [C] moving.
And it's terrific to meet you.
Thank you very much.
Your music is gorgeous, Yanni.
Yeah.
[G#] Thank you very much for being here.
And there's Yanni's album, the one that is [Gm] soon to be platinum,
called Reflections of Passion.
