[Dm] I'm Alex Skolnik.
[Em] I'm here at Spin Studios in Long [Gm] Island City, New York.
And I'm very excited to be here today to try out this new guitar.
This is the Yamaha [F]
SLG200S.
[Em] This is a silent [D] guitar.
So it's like an [G] acoustic guitar.
It's like an electric guitar.
You plug it in, but the tones are a little bit more [Dm] like an acoustic, as you can hear.
[G]
[Dm] [D] This is a very nice sound.
I would not expect such a big sound from such a compact, portable instrument.
[G] So here's the mic, and this has a little [Em] more of
Okay, [E]
now I'll switch to the [Em] pickup.
[A] [E]
[A] [Em] [C#m] [D]
A [A] little more of a pure acoustic sound.
I like a blend between the two.
[G]
[A] [C]
[D] [C] It [Fm] also comes [C] apart, too.
[F] So it's already portable as it is, and very lightweight.
But this actually comes off.
It converts [C] into this little [D] travel guitar that [G] you can actually [Am] use in a professional [D#] setting.
[D]
[G] [D] I [F] think if you're an electric player, primarily, [G] you should still play acoustic.
[C] I can't imagine not playing acoustic.
[G]
And acoustic [C] music really has to [G] breathe, I think even more so than electric.
There's moments where you can be so quiet that [Am] you can hear [C] a pin drop.
And that's a great thing.
It's great to [B] be able to get there.
But I think if [Em] you [A] lose sight of that, [G] and you just put in too much energy,
then I don't think you're [Dm] making the full [D] use of the acoustic quality.
Most of my favorite ideas that I've composed happen by accident.
[C]
Where I don't want to be writing anything, because I'm trying to warm up.
[B] And then all of a sudden, uh-oh, [C] there's an [D] idea.
[C] Where's the tape recorder?
Oh, God, I've got to develop this.
And now I'm hearing a harmony.
[G] And that tends to happen more on acoustic.
[G] Well, my most recent album is called Planetary Coalition.
And that's my first bona fide acoustic album.
I've wanted it for years and years.
And I didn't want it to just be a simple acoustic record.
[D] I've always [F] dreamed of [G] doing [Dm] an album with [D] flavors all [Dm] over the world.
