[C] [Dbm] Hey kids, Jimmy Keegan here from Spock's Beard.
I'm here at Guitar Center to talk to you about [C] the new Yamaha Recording Custom Drums.
[Ab] These are one of the most iconic set of drums on the market today.
They've been on millions of records, Michael Jackson records, anything David Foster touched.
So you have a long history with these drums.
There's a reason for that.
They immediately sound good.
The microphones love them in a studio.
Your ears love them when you start to dance.
It's that.
It's the drum set that makes people dance.
It's the drum set that makes drummers want to play drums.
One of the nice things about playing this kit is you immediately get that feeling of
God, it sounds just like the record.
You hit the drum, it comes right back in your hand and you know that is a great drum.
[Eb]
The new shells, the new drums, there's not much to change because this is a shell that works.
The only minor things are we've got new high tension lugs.
They're weighted now, so it's going to give a little more [E] focus to the shell and a little
more [N] focus to the sound.
We've changed the bearing edges.
It's a 30 degree bearing edge now.
Again, just a little more [Gb] focus.
With digital sound, things are a little more clear in what [Ab] you're hearing and what's translating
and the drums speak perfectly to that.
It's still the same thing.
[N] You take it into a studio, you set it up, you put the mic on it and it's done.
It sounds great right away.
Whatever head you choose, it doesn't matter whether you're going with a double [Abm] ply head,
single ply head, they all work.
[Eb]
[C] [Abm] The drums we have in front of us now, it's a 22 by 18 inch kick drum with the natural hoops.
[Gb] The toms are 10 by 7, 12 by 8, 14 by 13 inch floor, [Ab] 16 by 15 inch second floor.
We've got the yes mounts.
So the drums are coming in four different finishes.
Today this is the surf [C] green, but there's also the natural finish, the classic walnut
and the ever classic black.
[Gb]
We've got an aluminum snare, 14 by 5 and a half with die cast hoops.
There's many other configurations with the snare drums.
There's brass, there's steel.
You can get what's [D] right for you, but that's the beauty of this.
You can pick the kit that works for you.
