That record, Speared, was [Bb] everything that you wanted from a band.
Even though from the [Eb] production style, maybe, on Smeared,
and it was really as well [Bb] as any other record,
[Cm]
I still really like that record a [E] lot.
Then they came out with Twice Removed, which was just a fantastic record,
and one of those follow-ups that you, as a [B] band, I wish we had a follow-up like that.
[B] Twice Removed was just a big album for me.
I loved all the songs.
I would drive around all day long,
listen to the music and play it for girls.
It just [E] verified [B] that you love a great band.
Sometimes you're not articulate, so you use an album to say,
this is what I'm [E] trying to say.
[B] And I would do it all the time, those songs for the girls,
but no [Abm] offense to Sloan, but it did not work.
[B] [Gb] I didn't get, [G] it didn't work.
[C] Twice Removed and One Chord to [C] Another were big albums.
Those entire albums were pretty amazing.
[G] Sloan arrived in One Chord to Another,
that was when I [C] just said, okay, well, these boys can do some rock.
I think [D] it showed their growth and diversity.
It's [F] a very [C] concise set of twelve pop songs
that showcase all four songwriters [Am] very distinctly.
[A] In a weird way, it helped me [C] love the Beatles more.
It was just such an incredible sound for a band that everyone knew
to [G] make a record that sounded like that record sounded.
[G] That was such a [F] [G] throwback
when everything else [C] seemingly was very polished.
And then Navy Blues [Ab] came out, and I think that was [A]
arguably [B] my favorite record.
[A] That's where I think [A] they kind of went, [Db] bink, and everything kind of sat, [A] felt right.
The first ten songs on that record [E] just blew my mind.
[A] It felt like they were writing much better versions of Wings songs.
I'm kind of stuck on Navy Blues and Between the Bridges.
Those two records, back to back, are just like, that's [E] kind of my favorite period of Sloan.
Action Pack was my favorite, believe it or not.
The Action Pack album [B] is awesome to work out to.
[Gb] And I attribute [Gbm] [Ab] most of my body to that album.
[Dbm] That was probably the [E] soundtrack to my [A] life that year.
[Gbm] I would just [E] put Gimme That on repeat.
And that was like, man, I want to be cool like these [Db] guys.
[D] There was a long lull after Action Pack where they didn't put anything out for a while.
They set up a new space in Toronto and decided to go back to self-producing and self-releasing.
Hearing the double record, hearing never hear the end of it,
is the best Sloan moment because [G] they were back.
That might be my favorite Sloan record of [D] them all.
That record was awesome.
It [A] brought me so much [G] satisfaction.
[C]
[G] [Bb]
[A] Happy [Dm] 20th anniversary guys.
[E] I don't know how you [F] do it because I'm not [G] making it back for a while.
[C] [Em] [Bb]
