Willie Nelson - Willie Nelson with Lukas Nelson (The Making of "Just Breathe") chords
Start Jamming...
Today was one of the coolest, [G#] most amazing days [G] of a
undisclosedly long stint in music videos.
And I can't believe what [F#] we got today.
I mean, honestly, I was tearing [Fm] up at the [E] monitor from the first take.
[G] Not only did we get truly beautiful and incredible footage from Willie and Lucas,
but just such moving performances and this amazing vibe and [F] interaction.
You know, I feel insanely lucky to [C] have been part of this.
[G]
[C]
When I brought Just Breathe to the table, I was just thinking,
Dad would love this song.
[C] Yes, I understand that every life must [G] end.
We [Bm] were looking for some good material and Buddy Cannon, [C] the producer, loved it.
And there's no greater producer than Buddy, and he [G] went in there and cut a great track on it.
It was easy for us.
[C] Oh, I'm a lucky man.
It's really [Bm] a nice thing to have [G] with you, with Dad.
It's a nice thing to be able to do together.
The whole record was nice to be able to do together.
And, you [Am] know, the only times we really get to hang out and be together
when [F] we're playing music, I think it's the best time.
Yeah, and honestly, [C] as great a song as it is,
it wouldn't have mattered much to me what song it was
as long [G] as we got to sit down and hang out and do it together.
And we just lucked out and got a great [C] song.
Practice are my sins, never gonna let me win.
[G] Working together with Luke has always been fun.
Ever since [C] he's been big enough to get out there on the stage with me,
which he was [Bm] pretty small when he first came out there.
He's a big brother to him and Micah's brother.
[G]
So that's [C] as good as it gets,
to be able to have your kids on stage with you when you're playing [G] music.
Some nights I got Lucas and Micah and Paula and Amy
and the whole [F#] damn family out there, as they say.
It's kind of like being in a generational circus, [F] you know, on the road.
Circus is the good word for it.
[G] Did I say that [Dm] I need you?
Max [G] wrote a blurb in the beginning of [B] his treatment
that said [F] what it meant to him, and it was exactly what it meant to me.
[B] I think having [A] Max have a father [B] that's in the business
and [G] relating to the need to be around your father
and to connect [C] and to be there with them,
I think he [G] relates to me in that way too.
So that's where it touched me.
The soul-bearing [C] honesty of a father and son
getting together to record a [G] song about the limited time we have
with the people that we love,
[Am] I mean, [C] doesn't get any more real [Am] and true than that.
[G] I think it adds up to one of the most [A] moving, emotionally poignant songs
I've heard in a long [G] time.
Did I say that [Dm] I need you?
I'm sure [G] that as time goes by, my sons will be [Am] a part of it.
[F] Our daughters will be a part of it in whatever way.
[Am] And then their sons and daughters will [A] always have [C] music around us.
[G] Yesterday, I had a birthday party at my house yesterday,
and all the [Em] family and kids and grandkids were there.
And my youngest [B] great-grandson, [Em] Zack,
[B] and two or three more of the real young ones were over on [Em] the drums and the [G] guitars.
And I know Zack's about, what, ten years old.
And it was a great feeling, because I remembered when Lucas and [F] Micah
were about their age, and they were in that same corner.
Yeah, just doing the [G] same thing.
Playing and doing the same thing.
I said, [C] well, they're coming [Am] along.
Love you till I die,
[Am] meet [F] you on the other [Fm] side.
[D] [C]
