[C]
[Am] My son and I, Lucas, wanted to do some [G] recording together.
[F] We had an opportunity to be in [C] Nashville close to the same time,
and it just kind of [Am] fell [C] together.
We could do like [G] that one song that [C] I wrote,
Every Time He Drinks He Thinks of Her.
Every time he [G] drinks he [C] thinks of her.
[A] Since I really [D] wanted to do an album [G] with Lucas,
this kind of [F] made it easy.
It's easy [C] now, but it just [F] might get worse.
[C] Cause every [G] time he drinks he [C] thinks of her.
Where is [F] our hero [C] tonight?
I wrote this song about Billy Joe Shaver.
[G] It turned out pretty good, so I decided to put it in the album.
And we [C] had another title for the album,
but then as we got closer to the release date,
[F] I thought Heroes [Fm] was a little better [C] idea for a title.
Where [G] is our hero tonight?
[C] The original title was going to be Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die.
I started thinking about maybe Heroes might be a better title,
and maybe more people could relate [G] to that title a little [C] bit.
[G] Maybe me and Snoop got off on the other one pretty good,
but that was just us.

We wound up in Amsterdam.
He was touring [G] over there and I was touring over there,
so [C] I went to his show, [Gm] sang a couple of songs,
[F] he'd come to my island and sing a couple,
and [C] we kind of hit [F] it off [G] and [C] became good friends.

we'll figure out what to do with harmony.
When me and Buddy were trying to decide what we [G] wanted to do,

I had heard the song a [Abm] couple of times,

Everything just fell into [D] place,
and if you know what you are going to do or want to do

[D] Buddy put together a great band,
and that was really all we needed.
