Start Jamming...
Hello there, it's Will Fly here, and here is a shot of me preparing the video for you.
It's called You Are My Sunshine, and it's a guide to picking the tune in a very simple fashion.
I've set the tune in the key of A, which means that all the notes fall on the first, second and third frets.
The tune has only three chords, and we're going to pick it just using the thumb and two fingers.
So it should be very, very simple to start off with.
And the highlight of the tune is the alternating bass strings, mainly on the fifth string and the fourth string, and played with the thumb.
You can get the tabs, the chords and the music for this video from my website, which is www .mjra .net, forward slash, willfly, forward slash.
Right, well I'm going to start off by playing one chorus of the tune, You Are My Sunshine, at normal speed, just to show you what it sounds like.

Before we start using the chord diagrams in slow motion, I ought to explain what the symbols mean.
Here's a typical screenshot from the chord diagrams.
The red bar is currently highlighting the bar and beat information, so you can see that at the moment the screenshot says we're on bar one, playing beat number one.
The red bar now highlights the chord being played, so at the moment the chord is A.
Blue and yellow circles show which strings have got to be fretted, but you don't actually pick the blue circles, you only pick the yellow circles.
The point of this is that you [D] can keep your hand on the same chord shape while picking different strings.
T means that you pick the string with your thumb, one means that you pick a string with your first finger, and two means that you pick a string with your second finger.
Right, we're going to play the tune in slow motion now, with chord diagrams showing where the strings are actually fretted.
