[B] We can handle our [Eb] altar calls a little better, [G] a little wiser.
In [Bb] that, often people will come forward _ [B] when they hear a gospel [N] message _
and will want to make a profession of faith.
And then we lead them in a prayer, _ which is [Bb] fine,
but we need, rather than telling them,
now [N] listen, _ write this date down and don't ever doubt it [Abm] again.
_ It's good to have a landmark, a date for a landmark, if you will.
[Bb] But I think a better thing to do would be to tell someone,
look, if this profession of faith is true,
you will know it by the evidence of a changed [N] life.
As opposed to, well, I'm not sure.
_ I'll _ _ _ _ _ give you some [F] examples.
For example, [Eb] you can look in 1 John and see that if you're truly born again,
you'll be [G] drawn to the Word of God to some degree.
[Eb] You can't walk by it for a year and not draw you to [B] it
because _ _ it lives [Bb] and it breathes.
And the more we read it, the more it changes us,
the more we understand it, the more it directs the path of life that [B] [Bb] we've tried, [Eb] if you will.
_ Another example, if you're born again,
you [Bb] will desire to have [G] fellowship and genuinely love other brothers and sisters in Christ.
You may not want to go on [Eb] vacation with them all the time.
But you _ [Bb] _ _ _ will love them.
_ _ _ You ever got on an airplane [N] or traveled somewhere
and sat next to somebody you didn't know
[Bb] and in a moment it just felt right [Abm] and you found out that they're [Bbm] believers?
Well, the same Spirit in them as [Eb] in you [Gm] makes us family.
[G] That's evidence of salvation.
Another evidence of salvation [B] is something that people look [Eb] negatively at
and I think it's one of the most beautiful gifts God has given us
and that is [G] conviction over sin.
If you have a new relationship with Christ, you'll have [B] a new relationship with sin.
You may watch [Bb] HBO, but you can't fly a plane.
_ _ _ _ _ _ Because it's strained from the narrow way.
[B] It's seeing things we shouldn't see and hearing things we shouldn't hear.
And the Holy Spirit of God _ _ graciously _ _ [Bb] comes to us and says,
No, this is not the path that you are traveling.
[F] Come back to the [G] narrow way.
You will repent by [Eb] changing your [N] mind and turning back from what we have done. _
Living like a child of God ought to live.
So understand [B] this, when we say we are Christians,
_ [G] whoop, see God's calling right now to confirm that. _ _ _ _
_ When we say that we are Christians,
we [B] are saying [Em] that the Creator of the universe, the Lord Jesus Christ,
not [Eb] just Savior, but [C] Lord, _ has taken ownership of our life.
We have submitted ourselves to [Gbm] Him.
_ _ _ _ _ _ He is power.
_ _ [Bm] And I submit to you that He is too great to take [D] residence in us and not produce [A] results.
_ [D] But it is in those results [G] of a changed life
where [A] old [Bm] things pass away and all things become new,
[Db] _
[G] those are the places and [A] those are the things, my [Bm] dear friends,
that we may all _ [Em] find [Bm] the assurance of [Db] our [E] salvation.
_ [C] _ So listen with an open _ heart and an open mind.
Examine [D] yourself to see if you [A] are in the faith. _ _
[D] You can tell me [E] a day, _ [Bm] tell [G] of a place,
_ when you walked an aisle and you [A] first prayed.

You'll [E] quickly point to that moment [G] in time
if someone should ask _ [Bm]
what [B] God's done in [A] your life.

there will be proof [Bm] of where He [A] truly is.
