Hi, my name's John Seving, I play [G#] fiddle with the levelers.
I'm going to show you how to
play What a Beautiful Day.
You'll need a basic level of knowledge to play this, but [G#m] I'll
try and explain the notes as I go along and describe it in sections so that you can then
go [E] and listen and play along.
Starting with the chorus, I'll play it first and then I'll
explain [C#] what the notes are.
[A]
[D] [C#] [F#]
[A] [G#m]
[G] OK, so that's the chorus.
Start with [C#m] an E, C sharp on the
A string,
[G#m] B on the [Em] A string and then open string [A] A.
And back up to C sharp, O next to
open string A, G sharp [G#m] and F [C#] sharp.
[G#] Back up to G sharp and then a little slide up with
your third finger.
[A] [D] [A] [G#]
[A] [N]
So that's the chorus.
So this is What a Beautiful Day verse.
Fiddle
doesn't really do much but there's a hook line that you can hear in between the vocal
phrases that happens in the verses.
I put an effect on it which is kind of like a wah,
so you'll have to make that bit up.
But essentially it goes, [A]
which is a third finger A on the
E string and then couple that with a second finger C sharp on the A string and you kind
of slide up.
[D]
One more.
[N] There we go, that's the hook.
It's as easy as that.
For the middle
A it drops down to vocal and when Charlie comes in on the toms and I come in with the
A to C sharp motif repeated over and over again.
It's done on a filter so it's really
quiet and kind of muddy when it first comes in.
Then it brightens up as it goes through
the piece [Am] and then there's a beat gap and then it goes straight into the [G#] main fiddle
instrumental so [E] it starts off with a [D] kind of, three four.
[G]
[N] So I'll play the instrumental
through once more for you a little slower.
[D]
[F#m]
[G]
[F#] [Bm]
There we [N] go, it's basically based around A,
F sharp, there's a C sharp there and then the high bit goes up to a fourth finger B.
But well, have fun, good luck.
So now you've got all the sections that you need for the
song.
You've got the chorus, we've got the verse hook [A] and we've got the [G#] two instrumentals.
All I can really recommend is just play along very loudly.
The louder you play the better
you'll sound and if you've got any queries just email me through the website and I'll
try and answer them.
