[Em] [B] Hey folks, I just decided I would [Bm] go ahead and post a [Em] video
Thanking you all for the response [Bm] right away.
You know, this is my night off my first night off.
I
[Em]
Sunday through Thursday, [Bm] so I'm relaxing tonight and so I'm just kind of just watching
TV which is [Em] stuff on the internet and
So I decided I would go ahead and just [C] talk about what I [Em] what I've been doing which is listening to the swans which was [E] literally
Inspired by watching the latest update by cool ranch dressing
[B] They just bought the [E] swans and talked about the box set where it didn't have all the record
it was supposed to have but still very nice and
[B] [Em] Swans is a band that I
became familiar with back in the 80s and
Liked
still like actually and
Go through phases like I think we all do go through different phases of what we're listening to and I just had not been looking
for swans forever
[C] The sound I've always associated kind of with New York
[B] No [Em] wave and people like Glenn bronca.
It's
abrasive powerful [C] more dissonant than harmonic
[Em] But powerful is the word
[G] I
Mentioned my friend Joe [Bm] Booth and holds it before [E] he is a musician originally
Omaha has been based out of New York the last about 30 years [B] and he has a
Persona called back world, but he's also
performed and played with swans
Jarbo is on one of his my friends [C#] records and I
[B] Can't remember if he's done something recently with [C#] Michael Jira
Who's been [Em] performing as angels of light solo and then now swans are back together
So anyway, I'm looking at the record.
I'm gonna hold [B] up the ones that I have and [Em] I went ahead and played [B] quite a
Most of these actually I listened to quite a bit of this [Em] greed.
She came out in 1986.
It's a
full-length album and I'd be hard-pressed to tell you what the first album is or where this comes in but
[B] this is
[Em] I was really
Happiest in the word it was more like oh, yeah.
Wow.
This is some powerful stuff and
Interestingly enough this is music the way that Michael Jira
Presents this [B] stuff.
It does draw me [G] into listening to the lyrics like okay [B] and a lot of what I get [Em] from swans music
I think of
Just right away
Visually [C#] hate things associated with paganism
Rituals and then scraping [E] away the surface [C] regarding life
[E] in American life it [Em] seems particular
Powerful stuff kind of I
Don't think dark, but it may seem dark
[N] maybe foreboding is the more the word [Em] which is
Dealing with some shit here now folks, you know [C#] watch out
Does that [B] make sense?
This is holy money came out about the same time.
It's a four-track EP
and this is good and
It's [N] the sort of sound that I find compelling and draws me in
[B]
You don't [F] identify right away what kind of chords they're playing [B] looks like
clusters being thrown on top of each other
[C] Many [E] times the percussion will be in cranking and
Michael's voice very edgy
Leak is another word that I would use to describe
The feeling in the sound that I associate with this band
Those words aren't appealing necessarily and yet [B] this music is [C#] powerful and telling [B] I highly recommend
[E]
Thanks cool ranch for
Reminding me about this band now.
[B] The next one is my favorite of the ones I [C#] have and [G#m] it's the 12 inch 45 of me
mind [E] this looks but
This is powerful, you know and a big part of his Michael's view is vocal performance on here in relation to the driving [Bm] shards of [A] percussion You know
Damn you to [B] hell, you know, it's one of the
Refrains that is like going through a [E] litany of things.
Damn you to hell, you know, it's like
[Bm] You know, [E] you can't get some kind of catharsis sort of like going there with them it's like
What does it take this is really good
This is really really good
[F] the last thing I have by them and
I had kind of forgotten about these guys and kind of took a look on line to see you know
The availability of these records and yeah, they are
Rare now and hard to find in pricey, you know, I was
Damn, I didn't know that
But I have this live official bootleg of theirs
Anonymous [C] bodies in empty room and this is it's the sound [N] quality is not the best
It's like bootleg quality, but it's a whoa.
What a riveting performance.
What a night Wow
There's nothing else to show you it's completely black.
It's not on a label.
It just has one in two
Good shit, you know, so I just wanted to post another quick one
Because I just wanted to share that about the swans some good
stark
powerful music from the 80s, you know
Again I'm imagining that some of you folks are not familiar with swans and this is one for you to check out
