Hello, [B] I'm Mike Bradley, how you doing?
[E] And this is my friend [G] again, [Dm] Mike Bradley, how [E] you doing?
There he [C] is.
So today [Em] we're gonna do tube amp,
a valve amp [A] versus a [E] solid state amp.
[C] So a lot of people are always asking me about amps,
or us, us about [Em] amps, aren't we?
[C] And [B] yeah, I thought [Em] we'd just try and show you
the [A] sound difference [Em] between a [E] valve amp
and a solid [B] state amp.
[E] Yes, it's quite a big drastic [N] difference in it, you know?
I mean, we're not a drastic difference,
but you can definitely, the warmth of a valve amp
is very different to a solid state amp.
So definitely, definitely.
So I'm using a valve amp,
I'm using a Fender Supersonic 22 watt, it's behind me,
I'll do a little cutaway now.
And solid state Mike is using a Fender Stage 100,
which is behind me now as well,
I'll do a cutaway for you.
Excellent, so let's just jump straight to it.
I know people don't like talking too much,
so let's just start playing, shall we?
So both these amps are two channel amps,
so we'll do a bit of clean, some chords, some lead stuff,
and then we'll do some dirty stuff as well.
The Supersonic, I believe, Mike,
has got an extra gain stage, hasn't it, Mike?
Yeah, yeah, you can get a bit more gain on it.
So can you just leave it as the single gain one,
so we've got that kind of bluesy sound, right?
And I'll do the same thing.
So this is, can I go first?
You can go first.
So this is the Supersonic clean,
oh, of course, the guitars we're using,
how could we forget?
We're both using a Fender Strat Plus 1996, okay?
With gold lace sensor pickups.
So here is the Valvamp clean channel.
[G] [D]
[G]
[E] Beautiful.
[D] [G]
[A] [G] [E]
Cool, [D#] let's do a bit of [Em] lead on here, so.
[E]
[C#]
[E]
[Em] [E]
[A]
[E]
[N] I like it, tangy.
So there's the clean, [D#] let's put on the dirt channel,
and [G] let's do a bit of fun with that.
[E] [Em]
[E]
[A] [Em]
[A]
[E] [Em]
[E] I hate it if it's cool at the end.
[A]
[G]
[E]
[N] Not too shabby at all.
So we can both get a reasonably good blues tone sound there,
don't we?
Do you agree with that, buddy?
Yeah, I do, yeah.
It's a bit more saturated for me,
but it's pretty cool, isn't it?
Well, I tell you what, it's all about blues,
let's do some more Stevie sounds.
So we'll put neck and middle on, so you get.
[E] Oh, [G] [E]
[Em]
[C#] [G]
[B] [F#m]
[G#] [B] [A]
[B] [F#m]
[A] [Em]
[F#] [Em]
[E]
[Em] Stevie!
[D#] [G]
[Em] [Am]
[Em] [G#m] [B]
[A] [B] [G]
[G] [A]
[G] [G#m] [G]
[A] [G]
[E] [Em]
[E] There [N] you have it.
Now I think the valve sounds a little bit more
Stevie Ray-esque, but that's not too bad, though.
No, no, not too bad at all.
It's got a bit more rock to it, but you know.
Exactly, exactly.
Let's just do a little bit more playing some chords
and these stuff, and I think that sounds pretty,
we've got some good ideas of what's going on there.
So, bridge pickup.
[C] [D]
[C] You go.
[C]
[F#] [G]
[A]
[A] [G] [G]
[F#] [C]

[Em]
[E]
[G]
[A] [Em]
[A]
[G] [A] [E]
[C]
man, [G] nice.
Thanks.
So, yeah, guys, hopefully you get an idea
of roughly the difference there.
This is no pedals at all.
Both amps have got a little bit of reverb on, haven't they?
Yeah, a little bit.
Yeah, we're just having a nice little tube drive sound
[F] and a solid state drive sound, you know,
mixing with [C#] obviously the clean channel as well.
[G#m]
But hopefully it gives you an idea.
We're both a bit [F] poorly, aren't we, Mike?
Go on, explain [N] why, go on.
We are, we pulled our necks, I mean, bad shape.
Yeah, you saw our other videos recently,
the Q&A video, and we've hurt our necks pretty bad.
Yeah.
So, we're in a bit of pain still,
but hey, who cares, keep going, you know.
So, please let us know your thoughts
in the comments section below.
Yes, please do, I wanna hear from you.
And of course, remember.
Every Wednesday and Friday, a new video.
Oh, yeah.
[Dm] So, Mike Bradley, sign out, thank you [G#m] very much.
