Hello my friends we are back and we are gonna keep developing now our techniques on the ukulele
for so we can play Mexican music on the ukulele.
We're gonna be talking today about the chords
okay the chords we are gonna be using the scales let's start with C major and on C major we have C
D E F G A B and C and if we number them then we are going to be requiring the first the third and
the fifth the first would be the C that's our root then we skip D we go to the third which is B we
skip F and we use G which is the fifth and with that we are going to be building our chords
and basic chords made of three notes the first the third and the fifth now we modify those and we
get different colors we're gonna be talking about major minor seven and there's other options but
right now we are going to keep it simple and we are going to start with the major chords for our
major chords we are going to start with C major we just need the first string on the third fret
you might ask which which finger to use and practice with all of them for different situations
that [A] we are going to be having different pieces of music okay the next one that we are going to
have is a D flat major [C#] you can call it also C sharp major
[F] just imagine a person that has two [N] names same thing this chord D flat major or C sharp major
both names works but we prefer some names in some situations we'll see that later but for now just
practice [C#] your chord memorize both names D flat major C sharp major now notice that when we were
having the C [C] major this is [N] basically the same going up it's like having this finger in here
but you don't need to use it because you have the bridge right here but for the C sharp you [C#] go up
and you have it so this one [B] now is on the fourth and all all the other ones is on the [C#] first fret
see [C] [C#] [C]
okay good so we are using that C major [C#] D flat major [G]
let's go to [D] D
D [A] major you just use the [C] same technique [D] to D no problem at all now this D
you can have different options right here
[B] just take out this one take it off and leave it open
[D]
and the other one everything is still on the second fret using these three fingers right here
on the first finger okay [E] now let's go to E flat [D#] major I
[Gm]
have my first finger on the first string
first fret right here and everything else it's on the third fret fourth [A#] string
fourth [C#] third [Gm] [D#] and second string E flat very good [E] now going to E major now
[G#]
let's go back to [D] this one
remember this one was D if you use this finger [N] and you see that this one it's played by the bridge
not your finger but if you imagine to put your [D] finger in there and then move [D#] you go to the next
position half step above and then [E] another one right now we are playing this E major
D
[D]
[D#] sharp major or E flat major and then we go to [E] E okay
[G] okay now we're gonna be using
our F you just need to press [A#] the second string on the first fret and the fourth string on the
[F] second fret that's it you can use those two fingers these two or these two seems that
make no sense in here but [F#] if you go up you might need [G] them [N] okay now remember the ukulele is not
part of the mariachi but it sounds [C] nice [F] [G] what [C]
we use on the mariachi is the vihuela
and the vihuela has five strings but in the [G] tuning is very [A] similar [C] the [G] intervals you just have one
string above here it's not the same tuning though but your positions would be the same
okay so it's great [C] that you practice on your ukulele and at the same [N] time you're
you can be using those positions for the vihuela later on or the guitar which has six strings you
add one string above and you are building over that so you play different instruments that's
very good but you can [C] stick obviously to the ukulele okay so we have our [F] F major
