You just need those two fingers at the beginning.
Put your index finger on _ 2nd string, 1st fret and your middle finger on _ _ 2nd fret, [Dm] 3rd string.
Play it once, just playing those two strings in the middle. _
Then release it, play open strings.

_ Then repeat it 9 [Dm] times.
