[E] [F] [C] Hi and welcome to my tutorial for Treasure by Bruno Mars on the bass.
We'll be doing some old school slapping.
If you're not familiar with that style of playing, check out my [G] videos on this channel,
Old School Slap Bass.
[N] I'll provide a link [Em] for you to get there.
Alright we're going to start [Abm] by going to the fourth [Gm] fret where we're going to find an [G] A [Ab] flat note.
Now what [Em] we're going to have to do is play [Ab] A flat at the fourth fret and go to the octave
[F] on the sixth fret [Ab] and slap that or pull that.
Like that.
So we're going to play the note like [N] that.
Now as I said on my old school [C] slap series you can learn [Em] exactly how this technique works.
[N] But we're going to play that [Ab] note [Bbm]
and pull up on it like that.
But we're going to pull up a little harder down here at our [Ab] pickups like this.
You're going to play the low note with your thumb and pull up the octave with your index like this.
Right?
And you get this effect.
[N] Just like that.
When you pull [Bb] up down here by the pickups [Ab] it sounds like that.
[N] Now you're going to strike that once.
That's A flat.
[Ab] Then strike your A flat.
[Db] Then go down [G] half step.
[Bbm] And then you're going to go down to F.
[F] And [Ab] do the same thing [F] down there.
So what we did was A flat, [Ab] high A flat, hit A flat again.
G, [Am] [G] third fret.
[Bb] And then [Db] down to F.
[F] Now we're going [E] to hit F [N] at the first fret and we're going to pull
up on the high F [F] twice.
[C] Like that.
So we did [Ab] this.
[G] [F]
And then we're going to go back to low F.
Hit it twice.
And [B] then we're going to go back to G, [G] third fret.
Hit low G.
Pull up on high G.
Then we're going to go to G, [Am]
third [Bb] fret.
B flat, first fret.
[C] C, third fret [Gm] on the A string.
And then we're going to [Fm] pull up on the high C [C] twice.
[Fm] Just like [Bbm] that.
So we [Ab] did this.
[G] [F]
Back up to G.
[G] And then G, [Bb] B flat, [Eb] C.
And then move to position because [Gb] you've got to be
ready to hit that high [G] C.
So you go G, [Bbm] E flat, and move [Bm] your position [C] up to third fret.
[Ab] Just like that.
The [G] [F]
[G]
[Bb] [C]
next thing [Bbm] is you go back down to B flat.
B flat, [C] C, E flat, [Eb] back to C, [C] then back to [Bb] B flat where you end up.
[Cm]
[Bb] Just like [C] that.
And you can [Bbm] hammer on that C if that's possible.
[Cm] [Bb] Just [G] like that.
[Bb] So we've [C] got
[Eb] [C] [Bb] And then we're going to start [C] our groove over again.
[Ab] So it's like this.
[G] [F]
[G] [Bbm]
[C] [Bb] [Cm] [Bb]
[Ab] [G] [F]
[G]
[Bbm] [C] [Bbm] [Cm] [Bb]
That's the whole thing.
[A] Now, when [B] we get ready [C] to go to this little break where it goes to B [Bbm] flat.
[E] Alright.
[N] We're going to play half of the progressions.
So here it goes.
[Ab] [G] [F]
[Bb] Then B flat.
[Fm] Then C.
That was our break.
[E] And that's going to occur in the song several times.
And there's some variation on the way they strike that.
So you might want to [Bbm] listen to the record [F] and just pick up the variations.
Actually, there's a little bit of [C] variance in the whole thing throughout the record.
[Fm] But if you listen to it closely, [C] you'll be able to pick that up with what I've shown you today.
[Em] Alright.
That's [Eb] Treasure [Dbm] by Bruno Mars on the bass.
Thanks guys.
Have a great day.

[F] Now we're going [E] to hit F [N] at the first fret and we're going to pull

_ _ _ [G] _ [F] _ _ _
_ _ And then we're going to go back to low F.
Hit it twice.
And [B] then we're going to go back to G, [G] third fret.

Pull up on high G.
_ _ _ Then we're going to go to G, [Am] _
third [Bb] fret.
B flat, first fret.
_ _ [C] C, _ _ _ third fret [Gm] on the A string.

_ _ _ _ _ [G] _ [F] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ Back up to G.
[G] _ And then G, _ [Bb] B flat, [Eb] C.
