[C] [G]
[F] [D] [F]
[C] Hey, what's up?
I've got a progression for you.
It's inspired by the group Train.
And
we don't need too many chords.
It's nice and easy.
We're going to start with a regular
C major chord.
Three, [G] four, to a G chord.
Two, three, four, then an F [F] chord.
Now some
people play it barred all the way.
You can get by by playing, you know, ring on the third
fret of the D, middle and first.
You can even get that high E muted.
You can cover them
both.
[A] That's going to be up to you.
I tend to just mute it, not even thinking about it.
So we've got [C] C, [G]
G, [F] F for twice as long.
[F] And some things to get, some cool [C] embellishments
that you can do on the C chord.
C, C, C.
[Gm] [Em]
So you can go get your pinky on the third fret
of the B [C] string.
[G] To a G.
[F] So basically that third fret of the B string, you could add
that for each of the chords [C] off and on and experiment with it.
And then when you get
to the F chord, if you play it this way, you can take your middle finger off and put it
back on.
[E] Those are all really cool little tricks for this progression.
So [C] we've got
C, I'm going to add my [G] pinky, then I go G, then I add it [F] again, then I go to F, take
my middle finger off and back on, [C]
do it again.
[G]
[F] [C] [F]
That kind of, you know, you should experiment.
I [Em] think it's up to you to get creative with it, even if it's just three simple chords.
Rhythm wise, you know, you [C]
justdown, dow [F#] down, down, up, up, up, down, up, down, up. It's one of my standards, but it's perfect for this song. Down, down, down, down, up, up, up, down, up, down, up, down, [F#] down, down, down, up, up, up, down, up, down, [E] up, so forth and so on. So let's try that together. One, two, here we [C] go. [G] [F]
[C]
[G] [F]
Let's do it two more times. [C] [G] [F]
[C]
[G] [F] [C]
[F] [F]
[E] There's basically one more section, and then we're pretty much finito, ladies and gentlemen. We're going to go [G] G, to a D [D] chord. Pretty easy. [G] G, to [D] D, [F] F, [C] to C. I'll say it [G] again. G, [D] to the D, [F] to F. The second time through, it just stays on F. F, F, F, F, [C] F, C. Back to the [G] original part. [F] [C] So we'll do this one more time. [G] [F] F, [C] off. Let's go to the next section. G chord. [G] G, to D, [D] [F] to C. [C] We're going to do it again, but [G] no C. G, [D] to [F] D, to F, F, [C] back to the strum. [G] [F]
[C]
[G] [F]
[F] [C]
And that's it. That is how you do it. These are the breaks. Hope you [N] enjoyed that. Remember, basically every standard open chord, I highly recommend that you experiment taking fingers off, adding fingers to other spots. If you're just playing by yourself and experimenting with that stuff, you might start developing your own little tricks that you really like. You never know until you try, right? So, Marty Schwartz here saying, keep jamming. 10 minutes, 15 minutes a day, you will always improve. I promise. And thanks for rocking with me.
