[F] When I wrote Habits, this song is actually so old I don't even have it on my computer.
[Bb] It's [Dm] a, I have it on an old stationary [F] PC that I used back in the day.
But I wrote the, I had the [Bb] idea for the verses very [Dm] long ago.
[F] And let's see.
Okay, [Bb] so no judgment here.
But [Dm] yeah, the first, absolute first [F] idea I had for the verses with [N] Habits was a lot more
quirky, not fully as dark.
Because I wrote the chorus way later in New York during the Sandy Storm where I was kind
of camping out in a studio because where I lived the apartment had no electricity, no
heat or anything at that time.
There was no internet, no cell phone reception wherever you were in New York at that time.
So you were really isolated.
And that's when I kind of found the darker vibe for Habits, which made it so good.
But it started like this.
[Bb]
[Eb] [Bb]
[D]
[Bb] [D]
[Bb] I was not as good a producer.
[Bb] [D]
[Bb] [D]
[Bb] [D]
[Bb] [D]
Something like that.
Which is pretty different.
So it's kind of cool to see like how many turns [N] a song can take before it finds its home really.
But I had that for a long time and I didn't really, I wasn't able to find the kind of
chorus vibe that I wanted.
I wanted it to be pretty dark.
And then when I did together with Daniel Ladinsky, it was more this vibe to [E] it.
[Bb] [Dm]
So [F] as you know, the chorus came to life in New York in the storm, darkness.
[Bb] And obviously [Dm] the production now is really different.
[F] So when I then took it to the Strats [N] to see what they could do with it, they just changed
around the whole beat, changed the chords, got everything the way that made it into what
it is now, which is the kind of sad, dancey pop song that I'm really happy it took so many turns.
But yeah, [C] it was great.
