[N] This short haunting tune, beautiful tune, Pat Simmons, the Doobie Brothers, title song
from their second album, Toulouse Street, 1972.
And there are a couple of, there are very few things going on in this song.
Only a couple of chords, pretty steady, Travis picking type pattern, just an alternating
bass pattern with a lot of notes alternating, a little melody floating in and out.
Patrick learned this stuff from a teacher [Ab] here in Los Gatos, Alan Bylehars, who I was
fortunate enough to take [Eb] lessons with as well.
And so when I first heard this when I was in high school, I [Bb] remember thinking, wow,
that's just like [G] what we learned from Alan.
And but anyway, [C] there's a couple, this is actually done with two guitars.
And [G] this is the main guitar part [Eb] that, at least on my stereo here in the right channel,
the one on the left channel [N] is, has got, these two guitars are in different tunings and capable
of different frets.
That's the secret to the sound.
It's a really cool sound that he put together.
So that's what we're, we're just really just going to talk about the first guitar part,
what you, everything you heard right there.
Have tablature [G] to it that, one page, it's, it's, there's only a few different measures.
And then if there's [C] enough, if I get some [C] requests, I'll explain a little bit about
the second part.
Again, different [F] tuning and capable, I believe it's not capable.
I'll have more research to do on it.
But [N] anyway, so we'll talk about the picking, we'll talk about the chords, and we'll work
our way through the tab to the Doobie Brothers tune, To Lose The Street.
