[G] [N] this is the second version of Toss the Feathers, and it's quite easy to hear that
it's related to the previous version, but it is different.
I always associate this particular version with the players from around West Clare.
John Kelly, Bobby Casey, Junior Crean.
And again, it's not that I've learned a particular version from any one of those players in particular,
but I used to hear them playing at sessions and I'd listen to them and pick out little differences
that made it stand out from the other version.
There are two triplets in the first measure and they're both on the [Ab] offbeat.
So that's the opening bar.
[B]
[D] [C] [D]
[A] [C] [Ebm] And then we have the opening [D] bar again.
[B]
And a D, kind of slide up to that D.
[Em] [D]
[A] [C] [Dm] [B]
And when I push on the slide, when I reach the pitch, I tend to let it die.
I've mentioned already that I associate this tune with the players [Abm] from around West Clare.
And [N]
something I also associate with those same players is longer bow strokes.
So from the top I tend to let the bow [D] run.
[G] So just two strokes covers all [D] that.
[A] [B] [B]
[D]
[B] And then I slide up to that D and keep the bow going to bring in the E.
[Ab] And if you notice, I don't give the bow any extra push when I change to that E.
It's almost like the angle of the bow changes but the speed of the bow doesn't.
[G] It's not as if I'm playing [Gbm]
[G] [Bm] two separate strokes in the same direction.
It's just one sweeping stroke.
