[D]
[Dm]
[Am]
When I heard the men at the church [N] saying that Led Zeppelin was bringing [Am] the devil to
their daughters, I thought, oh yippee, [A] that was [Dm] wild.
[D] [Am]
I [Eb] remember when Little [A] by Little [D] came [F] out.
[G] [D]
[Gm] [Dm] I don't know if [Ab] I [A]
was trying [Gb] to find a way to [A] re-begin [Fm] myself.
[A] Trying to be so [Dm] many different [Eb]
musicians [Dm] and yet [E] you can do many [N] things, but that doesn't
mean you should be doing many things.
Watching him try and stylistically experiment but also not be all things to [Gm] all people.
[D] That's the one thing that [F] he's been quite sure [Dm]-footed about.
[G]
[Gm] [F]
It's [D] sort of a blueprint.
It reminds [N] all of us coming behind that you have to keep allowing yourself to be open
to what moves you.
Because if you're trying on something that ultimately isn't you, you need to give it
a go at least anyway.
You can always discard it and say, well I tried it [Eb] but that's not [E] me.
[Am]
[G] [E]
I remember walking into the [A] studio.
Robert [E] was there and we were [Ab] tracking down by [Am] the seaside with his musicians.
[Em] I was playing [E] piano and singing while he was tracking [N] live.
I think to watch him work with something that has stayed with me, the [E]
generosity of sharing
[A] his [Dm] [A] music, his creative process.
[E]
[A]
[D] [A]
[Gb] This might sound a bit
[N] strange, but watching Robert perform made me really [Eb] [D] rethink [E] how
[Em] to be a woman.
[A]
[Am] Because [E] I think there's a real [Am]
femininity [E]
with the [Am]
Hammer of Thor.
There's this [E] duality [A] that he [E] possesses.
At a time when a lot of women in music were circumcising their [A] femininity, thinking that
that made them [F]
stronger, [Ab] I [B] began to [E] realize that that didn't make me stronger [A] at all,
but just empty.
[Am] And so maybe [E] to see a guy not [A] shying away from the ancient feminine, the land, the great
mother, made me realize that
[Ab] I needed to [A] claim it for myself.
[E] And so yeah, he was a real beacon at a time when I needed it.
[Am]
