[Em] This is where it all started for Yvonne in England, at the Feathertree Club.
She was filling in for a person who didn't show up for the gig.
There she is in good looks and great voice.
There's Yvonne's gold record right over there.
If I can't have you, I want nobody, baby.
Can't have [Am] you, oh, can't have you.
[Em] Baby, can't have you, [Am] oh, oh.
[G] No, I don't.
[C] [A]
[B] Hee hee hee.
Hee hee hee.
[Bb] Hee hee hee.
Hee hee hee.
Yvonne, [N] what is that?
Hee hee hee.
Aloha.
How are you?
My name is Luca.
[B] [E]
[B] [Gb]
[B] [C]
[F] [C]
[G]
It's my home.
It's my home, born and [C] raised, 1951.
And Hawaii [N] was beautiful back then.
I hear, in the 50's it was when it was at its best.
I had a folk singing band, and I
I had a teacher and he loved my voice so he had me go in his studio and tape it.
He went to England, he played the tape to an agent out there and the man said,
bring her over, you know, when she graduates we'll make her a star.
And so two weeks later I was gone.
One night I played all my stuff and I was very happy with it.
And as I walked off this man comes running up to me and he completely looks crazed.
His hair's all messed up and he comes up to me and he [Eb] goes,
You're my Mary Magdalene!
You're my Mary Magdalene!
[Ab] To [Eb] love, [Ab] what to do, [Eb] how to use.
When [D] after I did the movie I really had had it up to here with Jesus Christ Superstar.
[N] I was asked to go to the hospital and hold people's hands and that's a heavy gig, you know.
I didn't want that responsibility.
Okay Sammy, guess what Sammy's gonna do?
You wanna feed him?
Baby, oh!
I had already done a Bee Gees song called Love Me, which went to top number five.
So Robert Stigwood gave If I Can't Have You to Bill Oaks, who was my husband.
And he said, have her listen to this and also have her listen to How Deep Is Your Love.
I loved If [Ab] I Can't Have You, so I said, that's the one I want to do.
If I can't have [Bbm] you, [Fm] [Bbm] if I can't have you.
[Fm] [Bbm]
[Abm] If I can't have you, [Ab] [Bbm] you can have him back.
[Ebm] What are you doing?
I'm giving you a record somewhere.
Ha ha!
[N] I liked it that it wasn't typically disco.
I wasn't a huge disco fan.
I was really into rock.
I mean, classic rock, you know, [Eb] that's where I was.
The disco thing was fun, but it was glittery.
And I wasn't into glitter.
I was into my t-shirt and jeans and my guitar.
[N] It was fun, but it's all play acting, you know.
I lived in L.A.,. which is a pretty happy place too. But I had a husband who was not supportive as far as me singing. I finally got away from that. I was unhappy. I came here and I realized, this is where I want to be. I felt really good. People recognized me and they wanted to jam with me. And they just told me, sister, you were the bomb. You were great for Hawaii. [Abm] And you know, all that was very good for the [Ab] soul. This [E] is my home. This is the best. [Bb] [Eb]
[Ebm] [G] [F]
[Bb]
