times and Halloween and all [Db] that stuff.
And [B] recently, _ one of my all-time favorite [Bbm] punk bands released [Ab] a new album, The Misfits.
The album is titled The [Bbm] Devil's Reign.
[Ab] But of course, The Misfits is one of those bands who have [Bb] gone through enormous lineup changes over the years.
And their new [Db] music no longer sounds like their old music, and I don't like any of the new music.
And I don't really like any of [Ab] the songs on the new record.

I want to celebrate [Gb] this band's legacy and tell you guys my top _ 10 _ favorite misfit songs.
_ _ To start this list off, I want to say The Misfits, _ _ _ in my opinion, are an essential punk band.
_ [G] And [B] in the 70s, kind of set themselves apart [Ab] from all the other punk bands around
by kind of centering _ [D] themselves lyrically around [C] horror-based themes, [B] gore, violence, monsters.
[Eb] If you listen to one horror-themed punk band this month, _ [Gb] make it The [G] Misfits.
I'm going to start this list off with an honorable mention.
The song [E] Halloween.
_ Not on this list, but it is October.
_ Misfits, [F] Halloween, scary songs.
It makes sense.
[E] Halloween.
My 10th favorite [Gb] song from The Misfits, off of the Legacy of Brutality [Bb] compilation, _ American [Bbm] Nightmare.
Really kind of out of character for The Misfits, more of like a B-side for these [Db] guys,
and [Bbm] kind of taking a break [Abm] from the whole [G] punk aesthetic and doing [Db] a whole rockabilly, kind [Gb] of Elvis thing on this track.
Really surprising, [Bb] but catchy, too.
Number 9, it's kind of like the Las [C] Vegas of misfit songs.
[Ab]
It's like their [E] most popular track.
It's got to [B] be Last Caress.
I [Eb] think this track was [Bbm] so much more [Ab] appealing to me when [C] I first heard [A] it,
and now that I've [Abm] probably heard it 3 [A] billion times, it's still one [Gb] of my favorites,
but, you know, it's not my all-time favorite, [Ab] and still has such a killer, killer _ [B] opening.
One of the best openings in [Gb] a punk song I've [Db] ever heard.
And lyrics about killing babies, it's a pretty nasty [Gb] song behind all the speed and the catchy hooks,
but, you know, it's nothing to be [Bb] taken seriously.
[Eb] My 8th [Ab] favorite Misfits [Eb] song, coming off [G] of [Gb] the _ [E] EP [Ab] that they put out together [Gb] back in the day.

[Ab] _ Bullet.
Song about _ [Bbm] JFK getting [Gb] assassinated,
and [Ab] also includes a weird little sex fantasy starring Jackie O.,. which [Abm] gets pretty [Bbm] graphic. I [Cm] gotta say, [Dbm] my 7th favorite Misfits [Bbm] song, one of their shorter [Eb] tracks, [Bb] We [G] Are 138. I [Eb] love this track. It just has this [G] really _ pounding [Abm] introduction, and then [C] speeds into this breakneck [Ab] speed, and has one of [E] the funniest guitar solos I've [Gb] ever heard in a punk song. It's pretty much just these two alternating notes. [F] _ _ [Ab] _ _ _ My [E] 6th favorite Misfits [Gb] track, one of my favorite songs off [E] of Walk Among [B] Us, which isn't actually one of my favorite Misfits albums, [Ab] but it does have some of my favorite songs. [Gb] It's called Astro Zombies. _ [E] Hilarious [Dbm] track. Great [Bbm] track. [Cm] Not only is the [Eb] hook stellar, [B] but the lyrics [Ab] detail this _ [Bbm] strange zombie [G] alien [Gb] invasion [G] where faces [Gb] are being melted. [B] It's great. My [Bb] 5th favorite [Gb] Misfits song was actually covered [Dbm] by Metallica, [B] _ _ [Bbm] and comes off [Db] of what I think is my [Ab] favorite Misfits full length, [Gb] and that's Earth A.D. _ Wolf's Blood. [Cm] This thing, I [C] know the Misfits [Ab] were really great at being a punk [Abm] band and writing these really catchy tracks, but what [Gb] I love so much about this album is it just has this [Bb] _ sheer energy to it, [B] this sheer [Gb] aggression to it. This album [Ab] changed the Misfits from [Gb] being just a punk band to a hardcore _ punk band. My 4th favorite Misfits [C] track is one that I think is one of their least horror _ [B]-themed songs, and that's [C] Attitude. It's not really a horror [Db] song at all. It works more as just kind of a general punk song, and [B] I think [Bbm] might be one of the most appealing songs [Gb] on this list. You gotta check out this song. I think you guys, if you [B] haven't heard this, can relate to [Bbm] this track. You ever have somebody giving you an attitude, and you basically want to put their face to the floor? That's what this song's [Db] about. My 3rd favorite [Gb] Misfits song also comes off of this EP. It's a track that I didn't actually hear until I got this [Ab] EP, because the album Static Age has _ most of these [Bbm] tracks featured on it, but not this one, which I love, and that's [E] Horror [C] Business. And I think it's [B] kind of inspired by the movie [Ab] Psycho, Psycho 78, 12 o'clock, [G] don't be late, [Gb] don't go in the bathroom with me. [E] _ I [B] just love the intensity [Gb] of this track, and just [Bb] Glenn Danzig's voice [Gb] on this song just sounds so [G] urgent, you know? [Db] He sounds like [Gb] the psycho [E] who he's singing about in this [Gb] song. And my 2nd favorite [Eb] Misfits track, I think it maybe [G] isn't just [Db] their [E] best hook, [Db] but one of [Gb] the best hooks in punk, [Db] period. [Abm] _ _ [B] And that's Where [E] Eagles Dare. [B] Oh man, I cannot [Gb] help but sing along with that every single time it comes on. Every [Ab] time that song comes on, my blood [B] just gets pumping. And my all-time favorite Misfits song, I thought long [Fm] and hard about this track, [Eb] and I cannot _ figure out why I like it so much. [Gb] Even though it's criminally short, [B] _ _ [N] criminally, _ _ [E] it's just got _ _ maybe my [A] favorite [Gb] melody out of all the Misfits songs, and my [Ab] favorite _ vocal out of all the Misfits songs too, and that's Hybrid Moments.
