[Gm] End of the last Matt's tour was like, [G] you know, we both, Paul and I both knew that we were going to do [Gm] something else.
Whether it was permanent or not, he needed to do something and I had to do something because I didn't want to find a job.
[Em] They wouldn't hire me.

After spending a dozen [D] years and half his life as bass player for the [G] legendary [D] Replacements,
Tommy Stinson has formed a new band [G] called Bashin' Pop and released a new album [D] called Friday Night is Killing Me.
[G] The band's supporting cast of Minneapolis [D] includes drummer [Em] Steve Foley, who [G] played with the Matts on their 91 US [D] tour.

Yeah, I didn't audition anyone.
I just said, [G] we're friends, let's go have [A] a beer, let's [D] play.
That's a little more important [G] I think than trying to find the perfect musicians I think.
Guys you can get along [Dm] with because you can always learn [G] to [D] be a band.
[G] I'm a band guy.
I'm not into, you know, and not to say that Paul isn't, I just think that, you know,
that's the way people people want to see a Paul Westerberg solo record.
I wasn't into making a Tommy Stinson solo record.
I wanted to, even though for the most part it is, you know, I [A] didn't really want to portray it that way.

[D] [G] It's actually about a guy I know, but I didn't obviously want to write a song about a guy.
So I changed it to sort of someone else I know that's a female.
[A] So it's, you [G] know, it's about, you ever see Breakfast at Tiffany's?
[A] Okay, it's a little [Bm] bit like about [G] how they go lightly.
[F#] Basically.
[D] [G] Watch that movie, you'll get it.
Maybe.
