[F#] [E] Hi everybody Tommy [G#m] James here and welcome to [E] inside tracks our new show on YouTube
You know on episode number one and number two we talked about the evolution of I think we're alone now
And as many of you know by now our book me the mob and the music is going to be turned into a movie
produced by Barbara Defina who's produced many great movies like goodfellas and Cape Fear and
Hugo and casino and so many more and we are just so thrilled and happy that she's going to do our story
the gist of the story is basically our very scary and tumultuous relationship with roulette records and
Roulette's president Morris Levy and the reason it's scary is because
Unbeknownst to us at the time we signed roulette records in addition to being a functioning record company
Was also a front for the Genovese crime family in New York
Well this made life real interesting for us and made for a good book
But at any rate the last scene of the movie is going to be where Morris Levy passes away now Morris Levy
asked for me during the day, but I couldn't be there because I was in Chicago doing a concert and
When I heard about his passing I was just getting off the stage
And so I had a lot of very mixed emotions after the show
I was very sorry that I [A] couldn't be there for him the very last scene is going to be where
I have this sort of imaginary conversation with Morris in the back of the limousine going back to the hotel
so the camera pans back and
The limo goes into the Chicago night, and you can see the Chicago skyline
And it really is quite moving the credits start rolling and this next song comes on just at that moment
And it's the last
Version of I think we're alone now.
It's slow.
It's acoustic
It's so very different from the original version
I brought the original Shondells Mike Vale Ronnie Rossman and
Eddie Gray into the studio and we hadn't made music together in a whole lot of years
and it was great getting back together with these guys and
We we did this new version
And we were all very moved by it because we knew where it was going to appear in the movie Jimmy Wisner my
friend music partner and arranger
from almost 50 years ago was also by my side as we co-produced this and
So it's a rough mix.
[E] It's right out of the studio
All I can [A] say is I hope you dig it.
[E] Here's the last version of I think we're alone now
[A] [E]
[F#m] That's what [C#] they say
[A]
Watch how you [E] play
[F#m]
They don't [C#] understand
[C#m] So we're
Fast as [A] we can
[C#m] Hold it all we [A] just
[G] Try to get away into the night
[E] And you put your arms around me
We tumble to [A] the ground
Think we're [E] alone
[D]
It doesn't seem [B] to be
[E] Anyone [A] around I think we're [E] alone now
[D] Another heart [E] is the only [A] sound
[E]
[A]
[E]
[A] Look at [E] the way
[F#m] We
[C#] gotta do Do
[E] [A]
What would [E] they say [F#m]
if they ever knew
[E]
[F#m] So [G#] we're running
[C#m]
Fast as [A] we can
And we're [C#m] holding on to each [A] other's
[G] Into the night
[E] Then you put your arms around me we tumble to the ground and you [C] say
Think we're
[G]
[F]
Doesn't [G] seem to be
[C] The
[G]
[F]
Isn't [G] it interesting how well the lyrics worked in that version
[C] Just as much as it did in the original teenage [G] love song back in
1967 and with [F] Ronnie and Eddie and Mike with me as well as Jimmy [G] Wisner
It really did feel like a complete circle had been made in it
See you next time on inside tracks
