[D] Because R&B sax playing isn't so much about complexity [Gbm] and chords and complexity of notes
and speed and blazing [A] technique as jazz [G] often is.
R&B playing is [A] about passion.
What [D] makes a saxophone an interesting [F] instrument is, I think it allows for the widest variety
of tone and style, all the way from the very mellow,
[Bb] [B]
[Gm] all the way to say Stanley Turrentine.
[F] [C]

One of the most important scales in improvisation, for my money, is the [Db] diminished scale.
[Bbm] [G] [Bb]
[Bm] I love to write tunes that just people will enjoy.
[Am] As soon as I hear, well it's a nice tune for musicians, it's like, oh god, I failed.
You'll notice it's got some very [D] sophisticated voicings and passing tones and so [C] on.
[Em] [G] [C]
