[D] [G]
Hey, [D] hey, my, my, rock and roll never die, just hang your hair down and [G] your eyes and
you make a million dollars.
I was in [D] this band going nowhere fast, we sent out our demos but everybody [G] passed, so
one day we finally [D] took the plunge, went out to Seattle and started playing grunge.
Washington State, that hit.
[D] Space Needle.
That'd be better.
[G]
So to fit [D] in fast we got flannel shirts, now we turn our amps up until it hurts, we got
weird attitudes and what's more when we play we stare straight down at the floor.
[C] [D] Pretty scary.
Now to fit in on the Seattle scene, you gotta show them something they've never [G] seen, so
thinking up a gimmick one day, we [D] decided to be the only band that wouldn't [G] play and
no, [C] under any circumstances, [D] we called it Silence, music's original alternative.
Roots Grunge.
[G] [D] [G]
So we spread the word through the underground that we were the hottest new young band in
town, this record [A] guy come out to see us one day and [D] just like always, we refused to play
[G] a man and knocked him out.
[G] He said he loved our work, [D] he said he loved our work but he wasn't sure if he could sell
a record with no [D] songs on it.
I said, dude, let me see how.
Say hey, my, my, rock and roll will never die, you just hang your hair down and your
eyes and you'll make a million dollars.
[G]
Mother made us do a video but that wasn't tough because we just filmed ourselves smashing
stuff, it was kind [G] of weird because there was [D] no music but MTV said they would love
to use it, the kids went wild, kids went nuts, Rolling Stone gave us five stars, said we'll
play with guts, we were meeting chicks, taking drugs, they asked us to do MTV unplugged,
you should [G] have seen it.
[C] We went right [D] out there and refused to do acoustical versions of the electrical songs
that we refused to [D] record in the first place and then we smashed all of our sh**.
[G] Then just when it looked like fame would last forever, along come a band that wasn't even
together called Guns N' Roses.
Hey, hey, my, my, rock and roll will never [G] die, you just hang your hair down and your
eyes and you'll make a million dollars.
Well our band got dropped and that's not funny because now we're hooked on [D] crack but we're
out of money so the other day I called up the [G] band, I said guys, I've taken all I can,
I say we shave off these [A] goatees, pack [D] up the band, move back to Memphis.
[G]
[B] Spud, get to Anulo, Spud, get to Anulo, Spud, blablabla, blablabla, blablabla, blablabla,
[Fm]
