Carl, look, we are delighted to have on the show today as our very special guest
one of the most acclaimed Australasian musicians ever, Tim Finn is with us.
Big round of applause for Tim Finn, [F] founder of Split Enz,
crowded house with his brother Neil, solo artist.
Nice to have you.
How are you doing?
I'm doing well, thanks, Richard.
Do you have a flutter on the horses?
I don't usually, no.
My whole life's a gamble, so I don't need that.
Well, it's a gamble that's paid off, mate.
It's lovely to have you here.
You've got a new album.
How many albums is [D] this, Tim?
It's probably about 15, but I haven't got the exact number for you.
[A] Yeah, there's been a few.
Including the Split Enz stuff [Cm] and [E] Woodface?
Yeah, and [F] albums with my brother Neil and solo albums.
Yeah, I've been doing it for 35 years [G] now.
And doing it remarkably well, too.
This is an album you recorded in Auckland at Neil's studio.
Yeah, that's right.
It's kind of acoustic.
It's an acoustic album, yeah.
It's very intimate and kind of very handmade feel to it.
[F] I've been wanting to make a record like this for years.
You know, I was in the mood for some acoustic music, so
Well, we are too this morning.
We're going to hear a song.
The first track from the album is called Out Of This World, yeah?
[N] Simon and Brent are playing our keyboards and guitar behind the great man himself.
Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for Neil
Oh, sorry, Tim.
Hey, bro!
Take two.
Thank goodness we're not live.
Ladies and gentlemen, please put your hands together for the fantastic Tim Finn.
I'm sorry, buddy.
Thank you.
[G] [D] [C]
[G] [D] [C]
[G] There's vapor [D] flowing [C] like a bridal gown
From [G] the rocket [D] ship [C] that went counting down
[G] And love [D] is leaving for the [C] cold of space
It's [Em] a mystery, it's our [D] saving grace
Out of [C] this [G] world, when [D] you're
Searching [Am] for life [Em] I never [C] knew
Out [G] of this world, [D] it's [C] true
There's no [G] limit on the [D] things [C] we'll do
Out [G] of this world, [D] [C]
[G] [D] [C]
[G] it's only [D] when I look [C] into your eyes
I [G] can see beyond [D] what I [C] fear inside
[G] And I love the [D] way that you [C] reminded me
[Em] How it all belongs to [D] eternity
Out of [C] this world, [G] when [D] you're
Searching for [Am]
life I [Em] never [C] knew
[A] Out of [G] this world, [D] [C] it's true
There's no [G] limit on [D] the things [C] we'll do
Out of [D] this world
[G]
[C] [A] [G]
[D] Out of [G] this world
[D]
Out [C] [A]
[D] of [C] this world, [G] when [D] you're
Searching [Am] for life I [Em] never [C] knew
Out [G] of this [D] world, it's [C] true
There's no [G] limit on the [D] things we'll [C] do
Out of this world, it's only when I look into your eyes
Out [G] of this world

when [C] you're
[G]
[A] [N]
[D#] [A]
When I was a young boy
I wanted to sail round the world
That's the life [F#m] for me
Living on the sea
The [A] spirit of a sailor
He circumnavigates the globe
And the last of the [F#m] pioneer
Will acknowledge no frontier
I [E]
remember you by
[A] Thunderclap in the sky
Lightning [E] flash, tempest flare
[A] Round the horn
If [F#m] you dare
[D] I'd just spend six months in a leaky bar
Lucky just to keep afloat
Love, love, [A] love
[E] Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, [A] oh, oh, oh, oh
Heartache, whoa, whoa
Rugged individual
[F#m] Glistening like a pearl
At the bottom of the world
The tyranny of distance
It didn't stop the cavalier
So why should it stop me?
I'll conquer and stay free
Why, [E] come on
All you lads, [A] let's forget
And forget there's [E] a world
To explore, tell [A] the tale
[F#m] Back on shore
[D] I'd just spend six months in a leaky bar
Six months in a leaky bar
La, [A] la, la, [E] la, la, la, la, la,
[D]
[A] [D] [A]
[E] la
[A]
[F#m]
[A]
[G#m] [F#m]
[E] Shipwrecked love can be cruel
[A] Don't be fooled
By her kind [E] there's a wind
That my sails [A] will protect [F#m] I'm proven
[D] I'd just spent six months in a leaky bar
Nothing to a leaky bar
[A] La, la, la, la, [E]
[A]
[B] la, la, la, la, la
