[A] Thinking of You by Harlequin.
Here's a quick run-through.
[D] [A]
[D]
[A]
[N]
[G] [G#] [G]
[A]
[E]
[A]
[G]
[A]
These are [N] in reverse order.
I'm going to show you the main parts of the song first,
and I'll [A] show you the opening at the end of the video.
[E] So it's a [N] pretty easy opening.
There's a [D] couple of different ways to play it.
You can [C#] [G] [C#] go
[B] [A] [N]
[A]
[C] Whatever feels right to you.
[F]
[Em] I'll show it to you this way.
Fifth fret, fifth string,
[D]
[C#] fourth.
[B] [G]
[A] [C] [N] You can kind of slide up to a two if you want, and go
You can do a bit [A] of a
[A#] [C] At the end, two if you want, play a bit of a [C#] chord there.
[A] [N]
I kind of like the way it sounds that way better.
I [E] don't know why.
Anyways, after that [C#] [B] it's
[G] [N] So instead of ending on the open A, you're ending on the G, third fret.
[D] [G]
If you do it this way, [C#]
[B] it's
[G]
[C] [G#] Then back to the original.
[D] [A] [E] Then it's [D] [E] [A]
[D] fifth, [C#] fourth.
[G#]
[B] [E]
[Am] From there, you're just doing an A [Em] chord,
and you kind of hammer [C] onto the A,
which gives you a bit of a [Em] G before the A.
[A]
You're actually playing the fifth, fourth, and third [G] strings here,
[A] even with that finger off.
[B] Now what I do [A] to sort of help mimic the melody of the song
is to [Em] [F#] play a couple of extra [E] notes in [Em] there.
It helps if you're playing the song [A] alone.
[C] That's just going on the fourth fret, fourth string,
and fifth fret, fourth string, and then back [E] down.
So you play [C] [F#]
[E] [N] with the [A] whole chord.
[Am] Just go to a [G] G.
[B] [D]
[G] [A]
[G#] Try to do that hammer on [A] thingy.
[G]
[D] [A]
[G]
Then it just goes back [C#] to the
[A]
Okay, so let's tackle that opening.
[D] [A]
For this part, we're just going to be picking the fifth, fourth, and third strings.
[D] [A] [D]
[A] Pretty straightforward picking pattern.
It doesn't change much throughout the opening.
[N] We're putting our second finger here on the seventh fret of the fourth string,
and our first finger on the sixth fret of the third [A] string.
So we're starting once again on the fifth,
and then picking down.
So we're jumping from the fifth to the third, fourth, fifth.
The pattern goes that way.
Now we're going up one fret on the third string,
and then we're going up two frets on the third string.
So we're just [C#] playing
[D]
[Am] [D] [C#m]
Of course, we're [G] picking all the other [A] notes in between.
[D]
[A]
[D]
[A] [D] [A]
Now if you want, instead of putting this finger here,
you can just mush your middle finger down.
[D] [A] [D]
[A] That's easier for you.
That's fine.
Then after that, [G] we're changing our chords [C#] just slightly.
We're leaving this finger [Em] here where it is,
and we're putting our first finger [G] on the fifth fret of the [D] fourth [A] string.
We're playing the same notes here also,
with our fingers.
We're just adding that note in there.
[D] [A]
The third time through, we're doing the same pattern, kind of,
and we're [D]
going with an open fourth string.
[A]
[D] [A]
Actually, I lied.
It's not the same pattern at all.
So that last time, [B] we're doing an open fifth and an open fourth string,
[C#] and we just have one finger here on the sixth fret of the third string,
and we're going [D]
[C#] [Bm]
[A] [D] [E]
[A] an eighth.
So the chord pattern
[F#] Of course, you're playing the [E] fifth and the fourth string in [A] between.
[D]
[A]
Now play it all the [G] way through [A] slowly.
[D] [A]
[D] [A]
That [D]
[A]
wasn't very smooth, but you get the idea.
[D] [A]
[D] [A]
[D] [A]
[D] [A]
