This is about far beyond and non-existence and all that in between, because I don't really
know all about it, but I'm going to try to explain it.
[Abm] I think the Wipers were probably the [Fm] biggest influence on [F] all the Seattle bands [Ab] like Pearl
Jam and Mudhoney.
They were all just [Fm] kids learning how to play when all these bands were coming through town.
They just came [E] on stage and just blew everything away.
We had never seen anything [Bb] like that. _
Their stage show [F] was so powerful, particularly when they had their original lineup with [E] [Ab] Sam
Henry on drums and Dave Coquant bass.
I think [C] the Wipers were [Ab] critical for providing people with a shot in the arm and a boost
to [Eb] their morale when it was most [Abm] needed.
I ran [C] into Greg [Ab] at a Ramones concert downtown at the Paramount, which was like [F] for 92 cents
they had a Ramones show [Em] presented [F] by the [Ab] radio station.
[G] The thing was, the radio [Eb] station never played the Ramones.
[Fm] It was some kind of a novelty thing.
[F] But a lot of people [Ab] wound up going down to that show and [B] standing up front and just [Fm] having
their lives changed [Gb] for good by [E] seeing that band.
[Ab] I ran into Greg, I hadn't seen him in a couple years, and he's like, man, this is really
something, it's kick-starting the whole music [E] scene again.
Greg had such a great [F] [C] lyrical ability in that.
[D] He [A] really kind of helped paint [F] _ [C] the_
his [A] lyrics were dark and depressing and that [D] [E] inspired us.
