[A] What [C] up guys, Mike Groce here at rockinguitarlessons.com and youtube.com slash rocking guitar lessons one.
Do you know who that is?
Yeah you do because you clicked it.
The who with Won't Get Fooled [Fm] Again.
Per request of one of my subscribers, B-C-R-E [C]-H-V.
I [C] remember being a kid man, hearing this in pinball ways when I was real little and [G#m] just
kind of tripping out.
[F#]
The year I started playing was 82, [G] right around there.
So at that point Van Halen was on [G#] the scene and Quiet [F] Riot, so I was listening to Randy
Rhodes, [N] Eddie Van Halen, Carlos Cavaza.
But this just takes me back to a time.
I never listened to a whole lot [C] of the who.
Keith Moon is an amazing drummer and the who is a great band, [A] hands down.
[D] This just takes me [N] back man.
I remember being in the arcade hearing this.
So it's a cool [C] epic thing.
So let's jump into this.
You want to do standard tuning.
[B] Pete [C] Townsend, [E] because he was all [Fm] into this [N] crazy stage antics and stuff, so his cord
would get unplugged and you'd hear it crackling and stuff.
[C] So this is the basic concept.
You'll probably find [A] the who playing it 20 different ways if you go on youtube.
This is the concept using A major.
So open A, second fret D, second [C] fret G, second fret B.
I like to bar it, but you can use three [A] fingers if you want.
And go with your thumb, kind of mute out the low E and go down up [B] down.
Like I said, this is the basic concept of how Townsend [A] is playing it.
[Cm] And then hit the open A and just [C] karate chop it, stop it from ringing.
[A] And this is the, I want to say like the second part, [N] because in the beginning it's just real
real like, [A] [B] like that.
This is where [N] the guitar really starts to pick up, okay.
You're going to do that three times, what I [A] just did.
Three, four.
Three, four.
Two, three, four.
Two, three.
[F] Alright, and [E] then open E, third fret E, do like a quarter step bend with your middle finger.
So it's, and then back to the low E, then go to E major chord, which is two A, two D,
one G.
And so [C] that low E is going to be ringing with [E] it, right.
So we have, then hit all six of them, or as Townsend would do it.
[C] [G] Then go [Cm] open position [F] C major chord, three A, two [C] D, one B.
And hit that once, [D] and then go to G major.
And I'm going to do it the [E] non-orthodox way, but you know, quite a few [A] players, if it's
similar to the [E] previous chord they're on, like in this case, that's how I'm doing the [C] C.
If I'm going to go to G, I'll just do that.
Sometimes I'll do that.
So it's three E, two A, three E.
So it's kind of [A] not a super comfortable fingering if you're not used to [Gm] it.
Kind of [C#] depends, like I said, what the [F] next chord is in the song, and you can pick and choose.
I [A] could go either way.
I could go, [G]
[C] it's not wrong either way.
It's good to learn both, the way I see it, you know.
[N] Don't always take the easy way, don't always take the shortcut.
If you learn both ways to play something, or sometimes there's multiple, multiple ways
to play something.
[A] So the more adaptable you are as a guitar player, the better.
[F] Because you never know, you know, [C] it's not going to change the sound.
[N] But don't always go for the shortcuts.
Learn it all is what I'm getting at.
So B, C, R, E, eight V's for you, bud, and anyone else that's on this lesson, you tuned
in to learn it, welcome, hope it was helpful in your playing.
I learned a lot of my guitar playing roots by learning riffs like this.
[Cm] For me it was like Van Halen, Quiet Riot, Scorpions, [E] Deep Purple, Dokken, [C] Dio, all that
stuff, so, Malmsteen.
[Fm] And the songs won't get fooled [C] again by The [A] Who.
Watch my website, that's what I wanted to tell you.
[F#] It's coming at the end of [C] 2012, so I hope you become a premium member there.
Alright, well, it's more of a [A] detailed, [C] it's not going to be, you know, like stuff that
you're finding on the YouTube channel [F] for legal reasons.
But for other reasons as well.
I [G#] want to be able to make [N] sure you have a good chord base, a good strum base, a good
picking base, all that stuff, and will just build your playing.
And it will take you to the next level, guaranteed.
So I got a lot of you that are going to join already, just be patient, I got to get more content.
And, youtube.com slash rock and guitar [Fm] lessons one is my YouTube channel.
