The Versatility of the "3 String Cigar Box Guitar" chords
Start Jamming...
Greetings YouTube, Del Puckett here and in this video I want to talk about the versatility of the three string cigar box guitar.
Okay, so first off, you can tune these things however you like.
Okay, so this one is tuned E, B, E and that's a 1-5-1 interval.
So I have a root on the bottom and a root on the top and a fifth in the middle.
[D] You could put acoustic strings on here, you could put nylon strings on here, electric strings on here, bass strings on here.
You could put the skinny strings, the fat strings, it doesn't matter.
You can mix them up however you like.
It's very user and friendly.
If you're a singer and you like to sing in a certain key, right, you can tune it up to be in that key.
And then everything is just a one finger thing.
After that, for [A] example,
[E] This [C] is a piezo.
It's got a piezo pickup in there.
I have a sound hole on [E] top.
This is what it sounds like, one finger.
[G] You [Am]
[E] do one finger on one string.
One finger on the middle string.
One finger on the bass string.
[B] [E]
[B] I'll show you something else here.
This one here actually went down to Lowe's and I bought a bunch of yardsticks, glued them together, right, and made a guitar neck out of that.
I got a sticker from one of their [D#] trash cans and a little pin on the top.
Made in America.
I put the little [Em] skinny strings on here.
And the same intervals.
It's tuned E, B, E, but these are the skinny strings.
This is what this one sounds like.
[B]
[C#m] [Em]
[Bm] [A]
[E] [B]
[Bm] [E] [N] Loads of fun.
Let me let you hear what nylon strings sound like.
This is an ukulele.
Little mini me.
This one's got the nylon [G] strings on.
[F#]
And this is tuned, same intervals, but this is G, D, [Gm] G.
[A#]
[G]
[A#] [G] [C]
[Gm] So that's what nylon strings sound like.
And this is a piezo as well.
[D] [C#] And last but not least,
[Bm] I have electric strings [B]
with [N] a real magnetic pickup.
So this has got that guitar kind [E] of a sound to it.
[G] [C]
[G] [F] [E]
Again, [G] so it's very versatile.
You can put any strings on that you like.
You can tune it however you like.
[Bm]
And play it, obviously, however [E] you like, even with just one finger.
[F#m] So it's great for beginners, [C#] great for people who [E] just want to jam and [F#] not think about it.
You don't need to know music theory.
You don't need to sight-read music.
Just one finger and then follow the dots.
[C#]
[B] [E]
[F#] Alright, so there you have it.
[Gm] One of the most
