The Trishas talk about the band and their new project on the Texas Music Scene chords
Start Jamming...
There's so much love about [E] Texas, that's why Texas is home for me.
[A] Can't find any place on earth like Texas, and you [G] can't fail Texas without H-E [E]-B.
[Gm] [F#] Welcome back, y [E]'all.
You know, [E] we've had a ton of great feedback on the Trish's performances here on the show.
Their impressive debut project, They Call Us the Trish's, really shows off what this Austin-based quartet is all about.
They [G] recently sat down to fill us in on the creative process.
[E] As soon as my feet start to die, I won't be in trouble no [Em] more.
I won't be in trouble no more.
[E] First of all, we're calling it a mini-album.
It's not called an EP.
For no real reason other than the [G] fact that it is not an [Gm] extended play from [Em] anything else,
because it's our first thing to do.
So, we're calling it a mini-album, trying to get that to catch on.
[E] I don't know.
We're not real sure it's working.
[G]
We went into the studio, we [Em] recorded it, what, over a week?
Yeah, like three days.
Three days.
Yeah.
It was five songs.
Yeah, [A] five songs.
We did Rise Above, that song Liz is.
I'm gonna stand [E] on my feet.
Stand on my feet.
Rise above [A] this pain.
Rise above this pain.
I'm gonna stand on my feet.
Stand on my feet.
Rise above [A] this pain.
Yeah, and Silva, our drummer, John Ross Silva, [D] he engineered it.
And our good friend Scott Davis, who, [A] he's done a lot of things.
He currently plays with Hayes Carl, [G] he's played with Jason Eady,
[C] and he's just a good friend and a great [F] musician,
and it turns out he's a great [C] producer as well,
and so we asked him to help us out with [G] it, so he produced [C] the record.
And we all, I mean, a lot of friends were [F] around,
so it really felt like kind of a joint effort.
That's the way we wanted this.
[A#] We tried to make it sound like [C] what we sound like,
but also bring in all of the different elements of what we do.
Like there's one song [Gm] that's a little folky,
and then there's one that's really [B] rockin', and then real quiet, [E] thoughtful,
and then Lizzie's that, you know, goes Joe [E] Cocker,
and so we kind of, we tried to [B] grab it all.
[E] What's that sound?
It must be an engine somewhere rolling down the line.
What's that feeling?
Might be lost or wise, so long, so must be fine.
[B] [A]
[E] Sometimes it does take us a long time [B] to come up with different [E] arrangements,
you know, four harmony lines,
and [E] we're somewhat defined by our limitations of [Em] instrument playing.
[E] We're still figuring out what we sound like as a band,
and there's four of us, we all write, you know,
so [A] [E] it's very, it differs, you know, style-wise,
but also sounds, you know, we [F#m] hope that it sounds [E] cohesive.
What's that sound?
It must be an engine somewhere rolling down the line.
