Hi everyone, welcome back to another installment of [E] The Right Chords.
I was so sad yesterday to learn of the death of Maurice White, the leader of Earth, Wind & Fire,
[F] who was a great session [Em] drummer, a [F] member of the Ramsey Lewis Trio, and with Earth, Wind & Fire,
[E] many other artists put [Eb] his stamp out to define the sound of [Eb] an entire era and some of my favorite
music.
So I wanted to give tribute [E] today with a little bit of fantasy [Db] from Earth, Wind & Fire,
[E] which begins on an E minor [Eb] 7 chord with [E] a little dreamy prelude.
[Em] D, [Bm] do-de-da, B minor [Em] 7, de-do-da, C major 7, [G] do-de, G major 7, [A] a [B]-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da [E]-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da -da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da [Bm]
[F] [Em]
[Ebm]-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da [Gb] [Eb]
-da [Am]-da [Bm]
[Em]-da [D] [Am]
[D] [E]-da-da
B, it's back to that E7, E sus, take [Am] a ride in the [Bm] sky, [Em] on a ship and [D] decide, [C] all your
dreams [D] will come true [B] right away, B sus, [E] and we, E minor, [Gb] then the same kind of pattern,
E minor, F [Eb] sharp minor, to G major, all seventh chords, [E] and we [Gbm] will live [D] together
[Em] until we're
[Gbm] twelve, [G] whenever [Em] our voices will [Gbm] ring, [G] forever [A] [B] as one, [B] and then we go [F] into the [Em] chorus, which
is just great.
Back to that beginning E minor 7 chord, E [Am] minor 7, A minor [D] 7, D [G] sus, G major 7,
[Bm] B minor 7, [G] C major 7, [Am] A minor, [Bb] B flat [E] diminished, [B] to B7, and then [Db] cycling back around [Eb] so it sounds
like this.
[Em] Come to see [Am] victory in a land [G] called fantasy, [Bm] loving life for [G] you and me, [C] to behold
to [Em] your soul is an ecstasy, you will find other [C] kind that has been [Bm] in search of you, many lives
has [G] brought you to [Am] recognize, it's [Em] your life [B] now in review.
Now there's a modulation, but there's a
little interlude that I have not figured [F] out yet, this is work in progress, but what I like to do if I'm
stuck, and I'm [E] stuck now, [Gb] is to find the bass note, and then find the top [B] melody note, and then fill in
the rest.
So what I have so far is, [Gb] [E]
[D] so the [Am] recognize, [Em] it's your life now [B] in review, [E] [D]
and then it's [Dm] back
[Gb] going [Em] into [F] our target chord is G [B] minor 7.
[D] As [Gm] you stay for the [Cm] play, [F] fantasy [Cm] has its toll, [Dm] let's try that again.
[D] As you [Gm]
stay [Eb] for the play, fantasy [Bb] has its toll for you, [Dm] glowing light [Bb] will see it through, it's your [Cm] day,
shining day, all your [D] dreams come [Eb] true.
[Gbm] And [E] this also has a, [Cm] it's your day, [A] shining day, all [D] your dreams come true.
[Gm]
[Eb] [D] As [Gm] you glide [Eb] in your stride, with the wind as you fly away, [Dm] give a smile on [Bb] your lips and say, [Eb] yes I'm free, [Db] I am free,
now [D] I'm on my way.
[Gm] [D] [Gm]
[Eb] [Bb]

[Eb] [Bb]
[Dm] [Cm]
