The Place Where They Belong - Abie Rotenberg & Baruch Levine chords
Start Jamming...
Hello everyone.
I hope everyone is well and safe.
We should have continued
Refuahs and Yeshuas.
You know, about a week ago a friend of mine, Rabbi Dovi
Kielsen, Mashkiach of Darchi Torah, reached out to me and said, you know Baruch,
don't you remember that song from Journeys 1 from A.B. Rotenberg about the
Sefer Toira, that after the war finds itself alone?
And I said, sure, who doesn't
remember that song?
He said, well now, you know, it's a little different, but that
Sefer Toira is alone again, except this time the Sefer Toira is where it belongs,
but we're not in the place where we belong.
And I was very touched by his
words and I said, you know what, if I can reach out to A.B. and he could maybe
write some lyrics that will give us a cheshek to really come back to the place
where we belong, maybe Hashem will bring us there very, very soon.
I'm very
grateful to you Baruch for reaching out to me and telling me about the Rav Dov's
idea and the past few days Baruch and I have been communicating back and forth
trying to put together the lyrics [Ab] [Dm] and we [Am] hope that you out there [Ab] will [Dm] enjoy them
and get cheshek from them.
We're ready to start, here we go.
[Dm] [A] [Bb] [A]
[D] I [Gm] was made [A] way back in [Bb] 1842,
[Dm] Toira [C] crafted by [F] a righteous Jew, [G] [A] [Dm] my story [Dm] is no secret, [Gm] it's a legend [Dm] now well known,
[Bb] how I lost my [A] purpose when [Dm] I lost my [C] home.
[Dm] But [Gm] these [A] past years I've once [C] more
[Bb]
come alive, [Dm] in a shore where [C] Toira and [F] Tefillah [Em] thrive.
[A] [Dm] Three [A] days [Dm] a week I'm on [Gm] display,
my words are read out [D] loud, [Bb] which fills my [A] heart with joy [Dm] and makes me proud.
But [Gm] now [Dm] again [Gm] I cry [Dm] out in despair, what happened to the precious [Gm] sounds of prayer?
Where are the lively sessions [Dm] [F] of [Bb] vibrant Toira's arcs?
I wander [C] from the [F] silence and the [G] dark,
[A] [Dm] how I miss the Rabbi holding me so tight, and L'chad Haidi's refrain [Gm] on Friday night.
I so hope to hear those [Dm] voices [C] yearning [Bb] for Hashem, [Gm] and that they miss [A] me as much [Dm] as I miss them.
[C] [Dm] [C] [G] [Dm] [Gm] Oh [A] Hashem, your judgments [F] always [Bb] fair, [Dm] and the Yid can [C] speak to you [F] from anywhere.
[G] [A] [Dm] [A] But my [Dm] heart is [Gm] aching for the Tefillah [Dm] and their [C] song,
[Bb] please return them [A] to the [Dm] place where they belong.
From [Gm] deep [Dm] within we [Gm] beg the [Dm] one above, [Gm] protect from [Dm] harm the children [Gm] that you love,
[Eb] so that they [A] may stand [Eb] side by [A] side and turn [Bb] their hearts to you.
Ki'ish [C] tachad, their faith and hope [Fm] renewed,
[G] [A] [Dm] so [A] that they [Dm] may stand [Bb] side by [Gm] side for all [Dm] eternity,
[Bb] b'leiv L [A]'chad in [Dm] perfect [Am] unity.
